Wolf hunting in Michigan.
« on: January 23, 2013, 03:36:24 AM »
The ink is just barely dry and a group has formed to collect signitures to stop the hunking of wolves in Michigan. I prepose that each and every name on the petion should be posted on the internet like the CCW names in NY. Not so se can send threats I don't believe in idle threats. It is to send them there very own wolf for their back yard when a problem wolf is trapped to be moved.
Why is it OK to dump animals on rual folks and the city people skate? Now that coyotes are eatting small dogs and cats in Detroit and it's burbs there is a cry to rid the area of the coyotes. Coyotes are not wolves thats for sure.

It'll probably turn out just like the attempt to legalize dove hunting a few years ago.  Makes me mad everytime I see one of those tear-jerker ads on TV with the abused pets - you know almost no money people send goes to actually helping abused animals, it goes to fight hunting and gun rights.

I've long said the best way to eliminate the wolf problems here in the U.P. would be to live trap a couple semi-loads and dump them off in downtown Lansing.  Do that a few times and there'd probably be a bounty on them!

The people in down town Lansing for the most part have nothing to do with what goes on at the capital building any more than you or I so they don't have that dump of wolves coming. Dumping in the capitol building would have no results either because the A holes that pass all the stupid laws only spend a few days a year there. And people bitch about the gravy train Union workers are supposed to be on.

My fault for not being more clear.

The point I was trying to make is that if there was a problem with wolves running around in people's yards in a highly populated metropolitan area our lawmakers would be scrambling to rectify the situation and placate the voters.  When wolves are running around in the yards of the relatively few (voters) up here then our lawmakers don't seem to think that is anything to be concerned with.  When it's in MY yard looking for an opportunity to make a meal out of my dog or perhaps one of my grandkids I tend to get just as upset as the people in the metropolitan area would.
The way it is right now a citizen can't (legally) take any action to protect their pet until AFTER the wolf attacks it - you have to have actual physical proof the pet was attacked (injuries or death)!  I'm not asking the government to actually DO anything.  Just let me handle any animal problems in my own yard.
BTW - My opinion of union workers is they are no different from non-union workers.  Most work hard and earn their pay, some don't.  It's what the unions are doing with the money they collect from those workers that bothers me.

Be careful Al. Being pro union on here can rile some people up ;)  Ask me how i know!!! As to the wolves i guess we will just deal with them up here like we allways did.  :o  Bottom line is im not giving the dnr even one dollar to go out and shoot there mistake.

Ya I know about the anti union views a lot of people have any where. Mostly I mark it down as envy over the wages and benifits the workers get compaired to scab plants/factorys. If they took a really good look at what the CEO's and down the line of management maybe they would relize the high cost of a product is their fault and greed mostly.
How about Roger Smith the CEO OF GM in the 1970's and 80"s looseing over 30% of the market share GM had in the auto industry and makes 4 million in  a pention today. And you wonder why a chevy truck cost so much.  Do you know how many CEO's GM has since him?
How about the buyers of ford trucks funding the Detroit loosers foot ball team.
Like I said before the dumping of animals in the rual areas should be put to a vote by the people who live in such an area. City puke need not bother voting.

Al,

I don't understand why you felt the need to go off on me about my opinion of unions when we were discussing wolves.  We just had a long thread on that subject and to put it mildly, we didn't all agree!
It was a good, and spirited, discussion, but there's no point in re-hashing the same thing over and over - it won't accomplish anything.

As far as the wolf situation goes - the people who have to actually live with them and try to deal with the problems happen to live in a sparsely populated area (read that low voter numbers).  Now, if there were wolf problems in a densely populated urban area (high voter numbers) the politicians would be clamoring to resolve the problem.

If the people in Lansing want to pressure their lawmakers to make it legal for us up here to control the wolves in our yards then I'll quit suggesting we dump some on them to deal with!  I'm not one who wants to eradicate all wolves, but we do need some reasonable control of the population.
One last thing.  When we slam LANSING we're not referring to the populace, it's just a metaphor for GOVERNMENT.  It's a lot easier than saying "Disengaged lawmakers in the state capitol"!!!

I sympathize with you guys.  and if you live trap them, I'll take one.  maybe he could clean out the neighborhood cats and stray dogs.   stupid city folks think that others love their cats, and that you rural folks should love the wolves.
I'm in favor of having a few wolves, but the folks who live with them should be free to handle any problem wolves without being threatened.

I they get their 'ballot measure' I would expect the wolf hunt to end up like the dove hunt. Lots of non-hunters swayed by emotional advertising.

Didn't think I went off on you spruce. I was commenting on Politions being as useless and lazy persons who have no clue how the rest of us live.
The other thing was in reply to loydes comment I need to be careful, I was just expressing my Option on why people don't like Union people, High cost of products they make for one.

Al,

Yeah, I overreacted - should have read your post more carefully before I responded!  Sometimes hard to decipher the true meaning when just reading something, versus just talking to someone.
