That was just grandstanding. The republican party is operationally dead, unable to organize or execute even the simplest things. If this is all they can be given credit for, they're in even worse shape than I thought.

The Tea Party can supplant the Republican Party...Rand ran as much or more Tea Party than Republican last  election..
   ....And he beat a Democ-rat..

I hope you're right, because things aren't looking too good for the republicans. I've fully given up on them. And the country is running amok with taxes and spending.

Know how you feel Conan..  Conservatives in general have a chance of making something of the Tea Party but some are resistant.
There are some of those "Christians" involved...and some who otherwise consider themselves conservatives..aren't quite conservative enough to associate with Christians...you know..Christians.... folks like Patrick Henry, George Washington and John Adams.
I have attended TP events and they are not at all focused upon Christianity, all though many of them are Christians.   Central features are..smaller government, less taxes (because they aren't needed), accountability..personal & political, all centered upon the constitution..

Rand Paul seems a good representative of the Tea Party..

It would suit me.  Or the constitution party.  Rand did endorse Romney because he saw the danger from Obama.   Do you reckon Rand might run as a TPer?

It would help if people just got out to vote, even if the choice isn't as attractive as they liked.

You're right OF.. we marry and commit for life...even though the one we choose to marry may not be exactly correct in every small detail.  We conservatives will have to start voting defensively..in an attempt to evict the "ship of fools" some imbeciles have voted in..

Yours and Old Farts posts are the sensible way to start taking the country back.  we can't get everything all at once, but we can use the democrat tactic of one-little-bite-at-a-time...

Listened to the news on he way home today. It seems that Clinton looked paricularly bad and out of touch. Pretty damning testimony, judging by the sound bites on the news. She should have been fired after the facts were clear. Let me know if the whole context of the testimony made her look any better.

Keep dreaming.

Only gadfly Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) still had the stomach to fight with Clinton. “Had I been president at the time and I found that you did not read the cables from Benghazi . . . I would have relieved you of your post,” he charged.
“Ohhh!” exclaimed one of Clinton’s aides, appalled.
But Paul, a man of exotic opinions, is never going to be president, and Clinton deflected his provocation with a mild reply: “I believe in taking responsibility, and I have done so.”
That may have been Clinton’s most cutting response to a critic: Letting him know he’s not worth wasting her breath.

Does anyone seriously believe that the republican party wants to be anything other than what it is today? Look at the last three presidential candidates and then explain to me very slowly why you think Rand Paul might fit into a group like that.

My point is that he can never be president. Not just because he has no party and no meaningfully large constituency. Because he represents ideas that the political powers that be do not want.

And tea party doesn't count, because there's nothing there to count.

Things do change; just look where the Dumycrat Party has gone.  From JFK to BHO in a few decades.  This country had better make a hard right turn, or it is done.  Rand Paul looks to me like a driver who can steer this country out of the communist ditch we're in and back onto the "right" side of the road.

We're speaking the same language. But did you notice the results of the last election. No hard right turn is forthcoming. Too many people on the dole.

Rand Paul was smart enough to see the danger of re-electing a communist.  Ron Paul was just a hateful old man who is a sore loser and would rather let the country sink than do the right thing.
If Rand Paul is in the running the next time, I'll be behind him 100%.  he has the good of the country at heart.

I find it both comical and systemic...  The lefties seem to get their information, news and current events from comedy shows.  Perhaps that explains why they are so poorly informed on actual issues.

Rand Paul did not look good questioning Clinton. He acted like a typical bloviated politician on the panel.

Thefacts are thus -

This is the same Rand Paul who wanted to slash the state department budget by 74%.
This congress is the same congress that would not allocate (and yes cut ) the state departments budget.
This is the same congress that even today wont release funds already approved to the state department
and allow them to be transferred and reallocated for beefing up security overseas.

If your looking for culprits responsible in aiding and abetting in the Benghazi tragedy congress including Rand Paul and those others on the panel should have looked in the mirror.
