Feinstein introduces sweeping ban on military-style weapons
« on: January 24, 2013, 05:55:57 AM »
legislation introduced to ban the sale and manufacture of more than 150 types of semi-automatic weapons with military-style features. The legislation also bans magazines holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition and requires people who already own assault rifles to use secure storage and safety devices and bars them from selling high-capacity clips.

The bill would ban the sale, transfer, manufacture and import of all semi-automatic rifles and pistols that can accept detachable magazines and have at least one military feature.

It would also ban semi-automatic rifles and handguns that have fixed magazines capable of carrying more than 10 rounds and all semi-automatic shotguns that have folding or detachable stocks, pistol grips, forward grips, or fixed magazines with room for more than 5 rounds.

Dont count on it. The Democrats don't have the support, and don't want to take a beaing in the mid-terms coming up in 2014.
BUT....... That's the problem. 2014 could move enough republican seats out of the senate, making it possible for a similar version to pass then. This issue will never go away until progressives are satisfied that it is a) Impossible or b) politically dangerous to press it.
Beware the coming media campaign. It will be organized, well funded, and supported by 99% of the hollywood left. We can't outspend them anymore, so we must become more politically active, as progressives have been for years. What many of you don't realize is that while you are making money, building businesses and families and living life, the left is fundraising at an amazing rate. If you're not already an NRA or GOA member, why not ? Are you waiting for a rainy day ?
It's pouring.

Michael,
Unfortunatly that is what they said about people passing Obama Care.
And they did.
The problem I have is  the term "Military style firearms".
Remember that the revolver was started as a military firearm, all semi auto handguns started out as military.  The cowboy gun was designed as a cavalry sidearm.
That the Bolt action base of all modern hunting rifles is the Mauser, Enfield, Manlicher, and all are military actions.
Even the Lever action rifle was introduced as the Henry rifle and was the assault rifle of the Civil war.
Even most single shot rifles have a military history.
The humble and everywhere trombone action shotgun was adopted my the military and pressed into service, some later were designed solely as military firearms.
And while all of these are right at home at deer camp or chasing quail in the field they were also seen on the battlefield.
Also remember that the 2nd amendment talks about a militia.  A citizen soldier and a soldier would need the most modern military fire arm of the time.

Context  and  terminology .   Open  for  interpretation.    Kinda  scary  with  todays  Supreme  court  justices.

Write your congressman today, tomorrow, etc.  Convince everyone you know to do the same.
If you don't have the time, too lazy, etc use something like this link

As has been stated, you can wring you hands and worry about Diane Feinstein or you can write your Congressman and Senators.

My problem as well , they sure throw the term "Assault weapon" or "Military Style" around willy nilly.
Maybe if they were painted all pink instead of being black folks would ease up.

I'v written my governor and representative, US senator & representative, and president, most more than once, and I spoke with my county Sheriff.  All except for the president, of course, have assured me they will stand by the constitution.

I'm beginning to think of those that have done nothing as parasites to the cause of freedom.  Feinstein's bill, if passed into law will start the 2nd American Revolution.
Vote them all out, EVERY election!

Be careful when they tell you they will do nothing to infringe on you 2nd amendment rights and Constitutional rights. I live in NY and both of my Senator voted for the new NYSAFE law and the both assured me they were both in favor of the 2nd and would not support anything that did not. The thing is they don't think gun bans are against the Constitution. It was just clever wording to get rid of me with out an argument. Get them to answer specifically if they will vote for any kind of gun laws of ban. You can't trust any of them.

The two houses of congress passed Obama care.  the two houses of congress are ellected by the people.
But the people I was taking about are the members of congress voting for the bill and sending it to the White Hoouse for a presidential signature to make it a law.  (did you not watch school house rock on sat morning cartoons?  "I'm just a bill....")

Read the first part of the law.  To restrict the sale and manufacture of Assault weapons.
There is the spirit of the law and the letter of the law.
The spirit if the law is to reinstatute the ban from 1994.
The letter of the law says SALE.  A sale is exchanging a good for money or other comodity of exchange.
So the spirit of the law says that no new guns cna be sold, the letter of the law says NO SALES of assault weapons.
Even the cute CA legal monster man grip pink rifle above would not be allowed to be SOLD. And if that is a CA rifle there is a problem according to the CA law you can not stick a larger than 10 round mag in a CA NON- Assault rifle.  You may want to photo shop a 10 round sticker on the mag.

We are under no obligation to obey any law which contradicts our Constitution, Bill of Rights or other documents which define our rights and the limitations of congress.  If congress passes an illegal law, we must REQUIRE them to repeal it or we must remove them from office, forcibly if necessary.  Neither party has the authority to pass or require an illegal law.  To be complacent is to be compliant.  I'm beginning to think of those that don't stand up for their rights as parasites to the cause of freedom

The vice-president didn't back off his goal to register/confiscate all black guns because some of you said you would "hide" your guns.  He backed off because of those of us who said we would not comply!
