No Ammo
« on: January 24, 2013, 06:42:42 AM »
I bought a .17 Hornet back in December, and an FN 5.7 Pistol this week.  Can't find ammo for either one.

Back in December Sportsman's had the .17 ammo once a week they got in 4 boxes at a time.  It never made it to the shelf.  As they wheeled it out of the back room, people would be waiting and grab it off the cart.  I asked why they only got 4 boxes?  They said Corperate headquaters limited them to that amount.

Now I can not find 5.7 ammo anyplace.  Shops say they can't get any from their suppliers.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

hope you come up with some.
unfortunately, it's that way everywhere.
i personally think we'll start getting ammo
back in stock, but i don't think it will
be reasonably priced for a while if ever.

It's been really discouraging for several years with reloading brass. I'm not talking about obscure stuff either. I mean .223, 45ACP and some other really common chamberings.

Been like that since the Bush years, so it's not just Obama. I was told it had to do with the wars. Found that hard to believe.

An awful thing, to run out of ammo.  I quit goin to the range so that I might conserve what I have.  Some few online resources left, but not cheap.

One of the local gun shops had a special on .22 bricks. The store was so crowded, you couldn't even move . I don't get it?

I quit shooting too, and all I have to do is open a window or go outside. I don't want to shoot if I can't replace the ammo. Thank an obummerbot. POWDERMAN.  >:( >:(

I cast alot of what I shoot. As long as I can get powder and primers , I'm good to go.

Ya'll hit the nail on the head. You need to conserve if you did not have a stock set aside for times like these. And how would you ? Well after 9/11 most people in America knew we were at war. Some of the years since our military shot a billion rounds a year in this war or praticing for this war. When I was growing up my grandfather and uncles would talk about hunting during WW2 when shotgun shells were hard to get. I have made it a pratice to always have a supply of ammo for my hunting guns that would last several seasons. A couple flats of bird shot . mayb 5 or 6 boxes of buckshot . 100 rifle bullets and several bricks of 22 LR. this should be common pratice for a serious shooter hunter . Set it aside and only shoot for fun when you can buy the replacements . Remember there is a war going on and we all must do our part. Then there are police and homeland sec. that are stocking up. As long as there is a great demand supply will be limited as will cost being higher. Then there is the self inflected wound of excessive buying on shooters own part.
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

I'm put one of my boxes of 1K of Wolf on consignment to cover the T/C Dimension rifle that the local gun store is ordering for me.
Reminds me of the Aesop's fables that my grandmother read to me, in that forgone era when kids were actually read to vs. being put in front of an electronic blinking nanny, of a certain Grasshopper and Ant. And I'm not ashamed that I'm selling it at the going market rate of $1/bullet.
And I've been called a gouger and a walking "Cheaper Than Dirt" for it.  ::)

My father taught me that when you go buy ammo, buy one to shoot and another to store. And when you go to the store on the weekends, buy a box of slugs one week and another of buckshot the next to put back in the closet. He told me back in the 1960's that the libtards would want to take up all the guns to impose their tyranny. No one can deny that now. He also said that the libtard policies would cause the break up of the US and that if he lived long enough, he would probably see it in his lifetime. Given how they're posting that last year the US was one of the most divisive year in history and the raise of an imperial president that is bypassing Congress by edict, I'm starting to see that may come to past.
