A buddy and myself made a pact that if it ever came to it that we would leave our homes and head for the remotes of where ever rather then put our families in harms way if possible.
We discussed what we would need to survive and what we would need to take with us.
Anything we didn't have we could find, make or steal.
Of course you would need some form of firearms.
We would both carry a couple of handguns.
Two revolvers each.
A 45 colt and a 357, that way we could share ammo. .
Rifle would be my 30-30 trapper lever with open sights.
A short 870 12 ga pump with extended mag.
If room maybe a very short 22 rifle.
The reason for these guns is they are very dependable, come in short/light versions, ammo doesn't take up a lot of room except the 12 ga which would be in bandoleers and the ammo could be found just about anywhere you went should you run low.
We both know how to live off the land and we get along like brothers so extended time together wouldn't be a problem.
We like mostly the same things so that makes for easy sharing.
When the going got rough I know that he is the only one I would trust my life with and I would do the same for him with out asking!
Not even my own family could I say that about and the same goes for him.
He is not that close to his family and has no kids so for him it would be just his wife to worry about.
I, on the other hand have a very close family and yes it would be very hard to leave them but for their safety I would have no second thoughts.
You will do what you have to when the time comes.
I am sure others feel the same way and some just talk the talk.
Think hard about what I have posted.
Especially about the guns and ammo you would take.
They need to be light, smallish and simple.
I feel we have made a very good decision in our choice of weapons.
Armed with these guns by two devoted gun people that know how to use and work on them would make for a very formidable team.
We didn't come up with this pact overnight.
We thought long and hard over it before we made our choice.
We both believe in our CONSTITUTION and what it stands for.
Our founding fathers faced many of the same choices and we have history to show us what they did.
There are still a few of us left that believe
"FREEDOM ISN'T FREE BUT IT IS WORTH FIGHTING FOR"!!! That being said, I will leave you with the following words:
"THE TREE OF LIBERTY FROM TIME TO TIME MUST BE REFRESHED WITH THE BLOOD OF PATRIOTS AND TYRANTS".
THOMAS JEFFERSONThat my two young sons may never have to know the horrors of war.
I will stand for your rights as my forefathers did before me!
My thanks to those who have, are and will stand for mine!
To those in the military, I salute you!
