Pres. Obama's Amnesty Proposal Contradicts his Inaugural Message to Grow the Middle Class By Chris Chmielenski, Wednesday, January 23, 2013, 9:00 AM EST
Pres. Obama made only one reference to immigration during his second inaugural address on Monday, but that wasn't the statement that stood out on the topic. Instead, it was his statement echoing his concern for a shrinking middle class. A concern, however, that is contradictory to his immigration proposal that would award millions of illegal aliens with amnesty thus putting a major strain on the middle class.
 Pres. Obama said:

For we, the people, understand that our country cannot succeed when a shrinking few do very well and a growing many barely make it. We believe that America’s prosperity must rest upon the broad shoulders of a rising middle class.
Pres. Obama believes that the country can't succeed if only a privileged few benefit at the expense of the middle class. But let's take a look at exactly who is promoting and therefore benefiting from the President's amnesty proposal.
Just last week, a headline from U.S. News read:
"Bloomberg Deploys Hundreds of CEOs to Move Lawmakers on Immigration"
That would be New York City Mayor and BILLIONAIRE Michael Bloomberg whose Partnership for a New American Economy includes hundreds of Fortune 500 CEOs (other millionaires and billionaires) pushing for an amnesty and increased levels of legal immigration.
These successful few want amnesty and more immigration for one simple reason - it makes them more money. They would rather turn to foreign workers willing to work for less in wages and fewer benefits than train willing Americans whose only demand is that they're paid a living wage.

mmigration reduces the wages of domestic workers who compete with immigrants. That's just supply and demand: we're talking about large increases in the number of low-skill workers relative to other inputs into production, so it’s inevitable that this means a fall in wages.
-- Nobel Prize winning economist Paul Krugman, "Notes on Immigration"
The Partnership for a New American Economy is not alone. On Tuesday, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce President Tom Donohue wrote an op-ed calling for amnesty and an increase in foreign workers. Other billionaires such as Bill Gates and Laurene Powell Jobs have also called for amnesty.
There is one group you won't find promoting a mass amnesty and calling for increases in foreign workers - the middle class. While polling shows varying opinions on amnesty based on the way the question is asked, it also shows that most Americans don't think Congress and the President should make immigration reform a high priority. The reason why is simple; the impacts of mass immigration and an amnesty are placed squarely on the backs of the middle class.
Research from both the Center for Immigration Studies and The Heritage Foundation has shown that immigrants of the last 20 years tend to be lower-skilled and lesser-educated and they disproportionately use government-provided services, and it's middle class Americans who feel the pain in their tax bills.

  • pen immigration can't coexist with a strong social safety net; if you're going to assure health care and a decent income to everyone, you can't make that offer global.

 -- Paul Krugman
Middle class families don't just feel the pain in their wallets, but in their daily lives as well. They see overcrowded schools, increasing traffic, and less open space.
How are the Michael Bloombergs of the world impacted? They can avoid those busy roads and crowded schools with their ability to afford homes closer to work and by sending their kids to private schools.
So, if Pres. Obama really wants his legacy to be growing and strengthening the middle class, he should consider the negative impacts of his immigration proposal on that same middle class and take a closer look at exactly who would benefit.

Good post Brett. In doing this Obama will cause middle class wages to plummet. It already is having
a huge negative impact on the middle class of the border states. No matter what the liberals post or
quote, the libs we see seeking a job in these states near the border soon change their tune when
the only job they can find is working at Wal Mart. Being a Caucasian going into the oil field with an
all Mexican crew usually turns out to be a very unpleasant experience.
Racism is a double edged sword. And any liberal that says just because someone is a Mexican they
are not a racist. That is a very ludicrous assumption showing they have no idea what they are talking
about .

It's already happening.  Many large companies no longer hire full time help to avoid paying for benefits.  Many have to take two or three jobs if they can find them just to make ends meet.

I take home now about what I was when I first got out of college almost 30 years ago and I'm far from alone.

I propose that we replace the term 'Middle Class' with the more appropriate term 'Working Poor'.  >:(

What concerns me is he thinks the middle class is growing.
What jobs does he think are middle class?
Are any of the middle class the ones caught in the middle between unemployment and welfare casuse that is the only group that is growing.

Brett we see this happening across the board. People are being told to work for wages that they made in the 1980s or they don't get the job. $12.00 an hour is NOT a workable wage, the gas cost alone to
get to that job is a huge factor to these people .The company's response , go buy a fuel efficant car.
The workers answer is how can I make a car payment on that car with what you are paying me ?
$800.00 month rent causes these people to collect two sometimes three pay checks just to meet that
cost. For a shack that before Obama may have gone for $200.00 a month.
Is it Obamas fault ? It wasn't like this before he stole his first election so it must be the man.
It wasnt like this under Bush or Clinton so it still must be the man that's doing it.
Libs can post all they want the proof is seen in the suffering that's going on across this country in the
real world and not what their media is saying .

They don't care.  There is no other reason for it. No reason to look for an excuse. He destroys our economy, the rich take everything and we are left with nothing, no constitution, no rights nothing. It is about power, absolute.

I have said before that hussein want's us in government owned factories and communes for farm workers.
I would say that citizens would be in the factories with illegals in the communes.

I've said it before and been taken to task for it, but that husseins goal for America.

More like the illegals will be in the factory's and farms and the citizens ? About the only way a citizen
can make it anymore is to be self employed. In that we are becomeing a nation of sub contractors.
The two or three jobs thing catches up with them eventually your body can only take so much.
This is where we see people who before would never think about it but they end up turning to meth
thinking that will help them. It falsely may do that at first but we all know where it ends up going
from there. Even some do odd jobs getting paid in cash because they are reciveing disability also.
I get these kind of people who haven't filed taxes in years thinking it will never catch up with them.

It does, but like I've said before we are also becomeing a nomad type of society where people take
a job just long enough until the law catches up with them. The oil field is very attractive to these people they just want warm body's. And throw meth into that mix and body's is exactly what you
get. Fake IDs and difficult to identify if they are injured or killed it takes DNA to even find out who
they were. They end up being you northern guys a lot of the time and it turns out to be a very sad
story as to why they were forced to live like this . Men and women who just four years ago worked
in a factory , had a nice home and family somewhere in the east. I guess people will do what they
have to to survive . The economy isn't getting better its shifting to something that looks like the
Great Depression.

If we turn into a communist slave labor state, three things will happen.
1) we will not need Illegals as there will no longer be welfare and jobs that people will not do.  As the first one to say no will get the Communist reeducation pill (Bullet)
2) most of the illegals I have met do not want to be citizens they are here for $ and want to return with as much of it as possible.  With government jobs only illegals will stop commeing here.  You did not see people flocking to Cuba, China, Cambodia and the Soviet Union during the hight of communism, people were fleeing it if possible.
3) once only government sweat shop workers paradise jobas are available the illegals will leave to be free.  They snuck here they will sneak out.

From the sound of the news today a bipartisan immigration bill may be coming shortly that makes easier provisions for guest workers and paths to citizenship.

Guzzi John,
The last few path to citizenship bills were ignored as the dolts in congress think the millions and millions are comming here for the American way of life and wanting to become part of the fabric of America.
Again the ones I have met only two wanted to be Americans.  The other 50 want to return to Mexico.
One that wants to be an American is Canadian the other is Mexican.  But the other Mexicans all talk of returning to retire to their home.  I asked if they passed a law to make them citizens would they become one, their answers were NO, unless it came with a pay check.

They are leeches and their advocate at the top is a socialist idiot...and an abject failure.
When one starts to assume the obvious; that the creep-in-chief only wants to bankrupt and destroy the United States...then the situation is more clear.
If you don't want the truth, don't ask me.  If you want something sugar coated...go eat a donut !  (anon)
