Ruger mk3/2245 in a waist holster worn under my shoulder rig with either a .44 mag or .357. Don't wanna shoot water mocs with high dollar ammo when hog hunting.

I carry a Ruger LCR-22 since it is very compact and weighs in at 14 OZ.

I prefer a revolver myself. Ruger sp101 4.2" or S&W 63 5". Loose rounds in my pocket, more acurate than I am and plenty reliable. Not to mention I got rid of all semi's so the wife doesn't get confused, all handguns now are .357 or 22, if she can fit a bullet in it she is fine and if it dont fit she damn sure cant shoot it by mistake. KISS for the wifes sake, KEEP IT DIMPLE STUPID!

My wife's new Ruger SR-22 is working real nice  ;D , I think its going to be seeing some of the back-country here, but in her carry, not mine. As an accomplished NRA 22 Indoor Bullseye shooter some years back she will do fine.

Mostly I have carried a.22 revolver, either a S&W Model 63 or a Colt Officers Model Target.  The Colt is heavier but more accurate.  Revolvers because they are more reliable than any auto I have tried.

I carry my Ruger Mk2 target (6 7/8 bbl) because its very accurate and all stainless so its weather resistant.  Have an old Colt Frontier I love but its the version w the small grooved back strap, 4 5/8 bbl and patridge front sight - much harder to hit with.  Also I think the short bbl and cylinder gap really reduce the power of LR ammo compared to the longer barrel and closed breach of the Ruger. I got 9 grouse 1 day w the Ruger. Lost a marmot w the Colt - felt very bad about that but I was NOT going to reach down his hole. One day I'll break down and find a K22 ........or maybe even the 617.

I'm a centerfire revolver guy thru and thru but I just can't warm up to shoving tiny .22lr's thru a loading gate. I could also care less where the brass goes. I vote semi. Mine used to be a MKII 22/45, then it was a Bersa T22, now it's a Talo 4.5" slabside MKIII 22/45.

Has anybody out there actually shot a snake with a 22lr shotshell?  How well did it work?  I've killed rattlers with handguns shooting shot in .410, 45 ACP, .38, and 9mm.  I've only killed mice with the 22lr shot, never shot a snake with it.

I have not used the 22LR out of a pistol for snakes but have shot quite a few rats with them.  I had a problem wiht rats going into the garage and would set up the rifle next to the back door and send the dog into the garage and she would chase them out the dryer vent and I would shoot them with the shot shells as they tried to jump across the 3' of side walk to the neighbors fence and freedom.  I found the crimped type of shot shell to be better than the capsule type.
