I like it to. The first time I tried it was on a touch up for an old 94 win. After that I tried  a whole rifle. That was the last time I hot blued. Not worth the time, money and health hazards. It's pretty good stuff. I just get the parts pretty warm and let them soak until the color desired is attained. I haven't read to see if there were any new ones on the market that were better. No need, there's no telling how many I've blued with it and they all came out good.

Try this for the typical cold blues:
Clean
clean again
Heat (only to about too hot to want to hold onto), this will force out any oils/residue left, especially around and joints
Clean again
Apply blue solution or cream (you can do cold or heat again if you like), repeat application until depth of color desired
I buff with a course cloth rather than steel wool as too much enthusiasm/pressure with SW will pull the color surface

For small parts I usually clean then boil them and lift with a needlenose pliers or a pre-applied wire

I've been using hot tap water to heat parts for bluing, it's cheap and a very effective even heat. Best results for large areas such as barrels and frames has been with Brownell's Oxpho Blue cream, it's thick and doesn't evaporate on the warm metal like the watery blues which make it easy to achieve an even finish.

For a much nicer home blue job, Belgian Blue produces a beautiful finish, but it takes a bit more time and effort, but is well worth it, requires near boiling water and a tank for a barrel which I built from galvanized gutter and heated on my BBQ grill.
