anyone using the 30 rem?
« on: January 27, 2013, 05:18:58 AM »
I found a Remington 14 in 30 rem that I had to have. My intentions are to replace my 30-30 as it isn't the best shooter. Does anyone hunt with one anymore? Being equal to the 30-30 it is useable on the same game range. I also have a 14 in 35 Rem and occasionally enjoy the nostalgia of again taking a 100 year old rifle on a walk through the woods. Maybe next I can find a 32 Rem.

I haven't hunted with it,but I have a minty Remington Model 8 in 30 Rem.Its a range queen but shoots great and flawless reliability. The 35 Remington in my 1908 manufactured Model 8 is the working gun,not much finish and some light pitting, but accurate.

Got a model 14 in 30 remington. Killed 2 deer with it this winter, Belonged to my father. Loading 150 grain Hornady round nosed over 30 grains of 3031 IMR powder in remington brass with remington primers. Not a tack driver but does the job. Have a 4 x leupold on top. Groups about 2 inches to 2 1/2 at 120 yards if I do my part.
