That is a great piece of writing.  Well done my friend!  God's blessing is right and may we all remember that when we have the opportunity to be in the great outdoors.  I can imagine how proud you must have been in front of the 'old' folks and your siblings.

One of the skills of a good writer is to be able to transfer their experiences to the reader to the extent that the reader feels he/she was there and can visualize it in their own mind...

Good story. I have yet to get my first deer. Have gotten plenty of other game. Rabbits mostly.  :-)
