Thanks for the info, probably gonna with a base/ring setup. Looking at Burris zees or quad locks. Scared of the lack of adjustment in the one piece.
As far as adjustment goes... I have never had a problem with any scope in the DNZ mounts... as far as height goes... Yes, there are other set-ups that can get you marginally lower with a 40-50mm scope, but as Tim says, when you get down that low, you had better have a slender ocular bell... there have been many threads about FTF's in Handi rifles, only to have the problem be the hammer (or extension) striking the ocular bell slowing the hammer and causing and incomplete stirke on the firing pin... getting the scope as low as possible is a good thing... except when there are other issues... such as ocular contact or (as in our case) the need for something a little higher to get a nice comfortable cheek weld and good sight picture... with the Ultra stock anything lower than the DNZ high mount is not comfortable for us.
