End of season
« on: January 29, 2013, 05:45:42 AM »
Well, my season is nearing its end here in Missouri. Unfortunatly i was out of state working most of this year. I did manage to get in some good beaver trapping for the conservation dept. I caught my biggest beaver ever this year, 66 pounds. I have two more beaver ponds to clear out and im done for the year. I also got a couple land sets in with the kids. We were only able to leave them out for a few days, but still did ok with two coyotes a red and a skunk. Im already thinking about next year lol. Its amazing how fast the season flys by with no traps set. How is everyone's seasons going?

Best is yet to come here--provided the ice goes out before may and I am able to make it somewhere, where the beaver are.
You can still use cable restraints on yotes for a while can't you?

Yes, but i think the beaver and maybe if im lucky an otter or two is about all ill have time for. I will only be in my home state for a day or two at a time. If i get real luck ill get to get out a few times for a day or two. That would allow me to trap several ponds. When i have such limited time, i like to hit beaver ponds, because it seems like with only a day to set and one or two check days, I can still do well at a few ponds. If i spend a day setting for coyotes, it just doesnt seem worth if if i have to pull up stakes in two days.
