Right handed, now left eyed

I lost the sight in my right eye back last July.  This deer season I had a terrible time trying to shoot my rifles left handed.   
 
I guess shooting my (right handed) compound bows has gone the way of the wild goose, but I still have my Bear Kodiak Magnum!   
 
I've always shot traditional bows instinctively and will start practicing again in my back yard.  Do you think shooting the bow right handed while only seeing from my left eye will cause any difficulties?   
 
Gonna be interesting to find out!

Unless you're used to sights, it should be doable..  I have very limited vision in my right eye as of now, (cataract), but still can use a scoped rifle.  I shoot pistol both eyes open, and still do ok.  I think you will too!

My Dad was right handed and left eye dominat.  He shot a rifle left handed, and a handgun right handed with both eyes open.  However, that is how he grew up doing it.

 You should be able to shoot that traditional recurve with your left eye without too much of a problem! Especially with a cant to the bow with your left bowhand.
With a little practice you should be good to go!

You'll never know until you try Richard. I must have missed your post about losing the right eye. Sorry to hear that.

I'm left eye dominant but right handed. I have to close my left eye when shooting rifles or handguns both. I do shoot shotgun with both eyes open and have learned to do it pretty well.

When playing with my rifles I often forget and mount one right handed.  Right away there's the thought "why can't I see through this scope!?"     Then I remember and switch over to the off side...  I'm also shooting my handguns with both eyes open as you do and FPH's dad did.
 
Maybe in another 50 or 60 years I'll get through this awkward stage and this left eye only thing will feel normal... 
 

What pull weight is your Bear Kodiak Magnum?

It's 50 lbs @ 28".  I only have about a 26 inch draw so it will be a little less.   
 
I'll keep shooting right handed and have always canted the bow about 30 degrees to the right (naturally  ).  With my eye(s) focused on the target I hope the hand and eye coordination will eventually  adapt to any distortion the monocular vision causes...

Shoot!  I'm gettin a new ailment every month cuz!     Gettin old ain't for wimps!     But, like they say, "If ida known I was gonna live this long I woulda taken better care of myself!"

I hadn't even thought about shooting a shotgun!     But I don't bird hunt much anymore; quail are scarce, dove shoots are commercialised...    I was always a terrible wingshot anyway...

i have a friend that has your same situation, he actually still shoots his compond by simply looking over the string & using the left eye. He just adjusts the peep to the height he needs & then adjusts the pins, good luck. Mike

I'm right handed for most things but left eye dominate and have a cataract on the right eye too. I just close my left eye on a rifle but with a traditional bow I switched to left hand. I just bough a lighter draw weight recurve 50 lbs and started practicing. Was getting pretty good and it was a chance to learn better form. But my shoulders were so messed up that I just eventually gave up archery. I was in constant pain but after I quit shooting my bows the pain went away. So I just gun hunt now.

I damaged my right eye last year it's slowly getting better but it's nice to hear that so many have seemed to be able to adjust to the problem. It gives me hope if it doesn't clear up more.
