Homeland Defense is an agency that protects us here at home against foreign enemies. Have we forgotten 9-11? That's what created the need for Homeland Defense. I'd hate to think they didn't have any guns and plenty of ammo. Besides, if there was a consipiracy afoot, neither the bid nor the purchase would be so easily seen.
Police here in VA have fully auto rifles, a sidearm, and a shotgun. They have what they need to shoot at bad guys here in the U.S.

Even if they are, what good will it do them unless they can find 7000 people willing to shot on fellow american's and have the knowledge to operate a firearm.

I somehow am getting the feeling that there is such an up roar over this now that the representatives will have to do something to put a stop to it. I don't have much faith in them but i just have a feeling. By the way, there is no record outside my home of what I have for guns. Gonna stay that way!

Well it's just more of the old "do as I say, not as I do" Hipocracy we see all over the gun contol issue. On the one hand they say "those semi auto "assault rifles" are only good for mowing people down in mass" and yet they are permitted for police and federal law enforcement. Why is that? Cops don't ever have call to be "mowing people down in mass", do they? Cops carry weapons not to protect the public but to protect themselves. If a highly trained police officer feels he needs an "assault rifle" to adequately defend himself then surely any citizen needs one as well. They ask "why do I need an assault rifle?"Let them provide the answer, "for the same reason you do."

Ain't that sumpin'!! When Janet Napolitano buys 7000 full-auto combat rifles, they are called "defense" weapons... but when you or I buy a semi-auto AR-15... it suddenly becomes an "assault" rifle..

Perhaps some lefties were "born yesterday" and believe that crap..but most aren't fooled by the strutting Hitler wannabe..

Then we can just use those full auto defence weapons instead.

Homeland defense is a useless but dangerous agency that should be dissolved. WE don't need more feds sticking their noses in States business. Local police, State police, State natl guard, we don't needs obummers feds poking around. . POWDERMAN.

Just how many instances can you think up that would justify the use of 7000 full auto rifles against citizens of the U.S.? Do you really trust Obama's government? Have you seen any reason that DHS might need that many assault rifles or the millions of dollars worth of ammunition they are stockpiling? I know you support the left and that you will make no effort to answer the questions but they have to be asked.

I did some math based on the information I have seen on the internet:

What I found on the internet that the DHS has:

2.6 Billion rounds of ammo
7K AR-15s
2717 MRAPs (those heavily armored vehicles with DHS painted on them we saw on the internet last year)

Lets talk about the 2.6 billion rounds of ammo first. lets assume it's all 5.56. My armory at work has 37K of 5.56 ammo in it. All that ammo takes up a space of the floor area of a small bathroom without a shower/tub. and about 2ft high. I consider 37K alot of ammo. 2.6 billion rounds is 70,270 times the size of that. That by itself is terrifying.

7K AR15s could equip 218/ 32 man plattoons.

MRAP armor vehicle- this is a 37,000 pound beast that is able to withstand small arms fire, IEDs, and rocket attacks. The DHS ones I saw in the picks came equipped with gun ports in the windows, and heavy machine gun mounts on the roof.

30 major US cities- I googled "How many major US cities in the US" and I got a continuous number of 30 from different sites. I am sure there is more, but lets just use the number 30. Based on the number of MRAPs and AR15 equipped platoons I listed above, you could deploy just over 7 platoons and 90 MRAPs in 30 major cities in one big strike. With more than enough ammo to supply those evil little assault weapons (equipped with selective fire).

Now I am not really one for consiracy theories and jumping to conclusions, but my segeant and me today had a VERY hard time coming up with some realistic and rational reasons as to why an organization that was desinged to protect the American people needs this kind of firepower. And these are just the things that I could find on the internet. What other stuff do they have?

Martial law scenario for an honest to god non communist reason is supposed to be conducted by the national guard and they have vehicles and equipment that can handle that.

Litmus test scenario- lets say almost all of our military is not willing to fire on american civs for unconstitutional reasons. Who then may I ask is Obama getting to drive these MRAPs and manning these weapons?

Like I said, I am really not all that big on conspiracy theorys, but you just cannot help but to question what they are prepping for and where average joe fits into that equation.

To clarify a few things:
The guns have not been purchased...........yet

The prisonplanet article insinuates that breinbart uncovered a secret operation. If you follow the links in the article it's the government requesting bids to supply up to 7,000 rifles over a six year period on an IDIQ contract. The request was openly posted on the fed biz site

I can't find any report that a contract has been awarded or that any rifles have been delivered.

PM, the information that I posted was collected via google. I spent a couple of days just typing in "dhs armor", "dhs weapons", and things like that. There was no one site that I pulled from. Sorry.

PM, I really doubt that we are allowed to know everything that they have or the tactics that they use. Based on the MRAPs alone, it is my opinion based on pure speculation that they have probably got some interesting toys and protocols on how to utilize those toys.
