Another new Scope - Redfield Revenge
« on: January 30, 2013, 07:22:45 AM »
With a new thought...
I have been hearing about this new Redfield scope, built by Leupold in Oregon.  The Redfield Revenge.... Ok for name but what was it really.  Grouse got one installed on his new Vision from Knight, he called about it on the land line, well the new gun also, but the scope caught my attention...

He has shot it and was really giving it good words and the targets that he showed from his adventure with the new Vision were not slouch either considering this was the first trip and first shots from the gun.

The reticule has grabbed my attention, it is not near as busy as the Ultimate Slam and has a built in range finder - seems easy enought to use.

The Accru Range finder reticule comes in two varieties, a hunter edition for modern Centerfire Guns and a Sabot version for shotgun/muzzleloaders.

HOWEVER, I do believe that even with the range finder and the range dots you will need to shoot the long distances with the dots and verify the POI...

And the price really is not out of sight... along with its lifetime warrant, fast focus Eyepiece and quality Luppy lens...

Here is a video that shows the features...

Here is the web site for further investigation...

I bit... and orderone last night - why? I am not really sure because I have extra scopes - but I guess I just wante to know....

What do you think?

Keep shooting muzzleloaders - they are a blast....

Looks nice, my latest method has been to move a scope that I already have to a rifle where it gets more use. I have a fair amount of guns, some sit a while, unfired. Those don't need a scope sitting on them. I do like to try different things at times though.

Redfield Revenge scopes are made in the Philippines, the Revolution is made in  Oregon.

I bought a Revolution with Accru Range when they first come out. It sits on top of my wife's rifle. It's a nice scope for the money. I believe they have jumped in price since.

More on the Redfield Revenge Scope...
« Reply #4 on: February 02, 2013, 09:59:52 AM »
Confirmed... it is made in the Phillipines along with a couple of other name brand scopes in the same facility...

But today my grand daughter and I went to Wholesale Sports, she wanted  to look at and for a new Diamond Edge bow for herself and I wanted to see if they had any of the Revenge scopes - they did. $179.99

Anyway I asked to check it out, I did not request to take it outside just looked at it in the building.  OK so maybe I am easily impressed but I really liked the optics and the Acru Range Reticule.  The fine cross hairs at the cross point are realy nice for me and the heavy verticle and horizontal X to the center were just what I like.

It does share one characteristic with all the other Leupolds that I have... the power ring is tight - tight to turn...  Since I am blind I have to turn the fast focus ring out a healthy chunk to get the reticule focus the way i need it to.

The counter guy then asked if I wanted to try it in a stock which I quickly agreed to but I asked him if he had a ruler and woul ddo some measurin gfor me, which he agreed to.  The stock was terribly short - I mean really short but I got on the stock and asked him to measure the approximate eye relief.  On 3X it was very close to 5 inches and on 9X it was just less than 4".  I am happy with that, even though it really does not matter to me that much.

Also while in the stock I used it to locate and sight in various things.  Target aquistition on 3 power was very quick and very easy... I found no real problem on 9x either but the build is only so big...

I really think it is going to be a very good scope for me.  My only regret is that it does not have the rain guard coating on the lenses like my good Bushnells, so I am going to end up using scope covers, which I do not very need or use with the Elites.

The last thing I/we did is I asked my grand daughter try it and see if she felt she could see things... She loved it, but heck she is only 14...

Keep shooting muzzleloaders - they are a blast....

Hope the scope works out for you. I've got to tell you, I really appreciate what you have to offer when it comes to muzzleloader info. Not too long ago I found Modern Inline Muzzleloading site. Great site for sure. And you Sir always seem to have something valuable to contribute. Thanks.

By the way, did your granddaughter buy a bow. I happens to love archery too.

Thank you for the kind words... but I really enjoy the world of muzzle loading and I do try t help when I can - goodness I got and still get a lot of help myself....
At the store she tried the bow and the lady helped her get the bow partially set up for her then they measured for arrow length... I have no idea what they were doing but the salesperson seemed to know.  She is going to use some of her winnings from selling her pig and steer at the fair last year to buy the bow and equipment.  But... she still has to get her dads approval... and hew is a bow hunter..
