Question for T/C Triumph owners
« on: January 30, 2013, 11:51:22 AM »
Question for T/C Triumph owners:

What sabot/bullet combination is easiest to load in your Triumph rifle?

I recently bought a Triumph rifle.  I have a long time to work up a load.  I thought I might save some time and money by getting your opinions first.

Thanks.

I have one that i shot 240gr Hornaday XTP'S with harvester sabots and 90gr of T7. I shoot the same load in my Encore. They both shoot great as long as i swab between shots.

Do you use the crushed rib sabots or regular?  Are they hard to get down the barrel?

I use TC Cheap shots (240gr, all lead hollow point bullet) for practice and hunting.  I use to use the TC XTP package, which was the 240gr XTP bullet, and Hornady Mag-Express (black) sabots.  Both the TC Cheap Shots package and the TC XTP package use the same Hornady Mag Express sabots.  The Cheap shots cost about $7 for a pack of twenty, the XTP's cost about $17 for a pack of 30.  Most importantly both bullets have the same point of impact, so you can switch back and forth without worrying about re-sighting your rifle in.

Both bullets are phenomenal on deer.  My son got two deer this year with the TC Cheap Shots, and they both dropped when hit.

They both load easily, with minimal effort.  I like the convenience of pellets, and ease/quickness of reloading while hunting, so I use two pellets (100grains) of T7.  You do not have to swab between shots, maybe use a spit patch after 5 shots.  With this load, you can easily get a, 1 1/2" - 2" group at 100 yards.

My quandary, I personally, don't think I have enough Handi's but, I know I have more Handi's than I really need or should have.
