45-70 BC switchbarrel
« on: January 31, 2013, 01:09:41 PM »
I just got a 45-70 BC ejector barrel this week. (Thanks Victor!)  I brought it home and cleaned it up and it fit right on the first frame I tried.  Locked up good but I still did my measuring and checking per the FAQ barrel fitting sticky.  Everything looked good, so today I picked up some Hornady Leverevolution with 325 gr. bullets.  I got home just before dark so I set up a target real quick, got my BC and took a few shots.  I set up a board at 50 and target at 100 yds.  I took the first shot at 50 just to see if it was in the ball park and then I took the second shot at 100, both standing at about 5:40pm with just a little light remaining.  The first shot was center of the board dead on aim.  Here is a picture of the 100 yd. target.  I could only make out the black bar at the top of the target through the peep sight.  What do ya'll think?

Sounds like 'Zen and the Art of Rifle Shooting'  ;D
Ive found it almost impossible to make a 45-70 load that doesnt shoot decent (with smokeless anyway, BP is a whole other world). I dont fumble 'em near as bad with cold fingers as I do littler stuff either.
