Isn't this a receiver?
« on: January 31, 2013, 06:13:05 PM »
Just saw this one.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEF-NEW-ENGLAND-FIREARMS-H-R-HARRINGTON-RICHARDSON-HANDI-RIFLE-TRIGGER-ASSEMBL-/181072337125?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a28c098e5

The picture shows a NEF receiver but the seller is calling it a trigger assembly.  What do you guys think?

SB-1 case colored, already at $102?  A complete shotgun can be had for $75 most days.  E-bay brigs the idiots out of the woodwork sometimes.

Looks to me to be a shotgun receiver, not a rifle receiver. I would have to see it to be sure, but he is also selling a 20 gauge barrel....sooo.

The auction has been cancelled, so no sale was consummated.

Lucky for her.

The serial numbered piece is considered to be the firearm by the ATF. That has to go through an FFL if it is not a FTF sale by same state residents.

Shipping long guns within a state for transfers are legal too, doesn't have to be face to face. But firearms(frames) are prohibited on ebay, so it's a moot point.

On a related note, shipping a frame or receiver only may be a different matter now that the ATF has changed their rules on Contender and Encore, what's a pistol or rifle, for interstate transfer my state of Washington now requires all frames/rcvrs to be handled as handguns since there's no barrel included, after the 4473 is completed at the receiving FFL there's a 7-day wait before the transfer can be completed.  ::)

Do you really think it was malicious or just ignorance?  Who would knowingly risk the nightmare of dealing with the ATF for $40?   ???  Wouldn't it be easier to just go down to your local law enforcement office and throw the receiver through the window?

Could be either, but IMO he was trying to use their own terminology to make it work.

Who's to say he wan't planning on using an FFL?

Looks like some jerk reported him.
Some jerk didn't report him.   :o
I sent them a private message and advised them that they were attempting to sell a receiver (firearm) and that they would have to use a FFL or that they could expect a call from ATF.  I received a reply and this seller claimed ignorance and pulled the offer.
Whatever their motive, to stand and not advise of the possible legal problems was not something I was willing to do.  We get enough bad press as it is.

Mark,
What part of the Ebay rules don't you get?

I've seen recievers of many makes listed on ebay, They never make it till the end of the auction,,
Ebay DOES have their own people watching to be sure Their rules are followed.

It's too simple,
Oh, and hat's off to Uncledub
found elsewhere

I've sold thousands of items on ebay and have some listed now.  Ebay and federal rules are stupid and it's not our place to help enforce them.  Folks need to mind their own business.

Its simple - Their Playground = Their Rules , if their rules are so STUPID , they why do you still use their service ?

Maybe WE ALL should heed that advice !
