KY ready to resume executions.

Ky. says it's ready to resume executions  Ky. says it's ready to resume executions Ky. says it's ready to resume executions  by BRETT BARROUQUERE  Associated Press Posted on February 1, 2013 at 5:27 PM   LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- Kentucky officials say the state is ready to resume executions with new rules that change the drug concoction used in lethal injections.

The Kentucky attorney general's office told Franklin Circuit Judge Phillip Shepherd in documents filed Friday that the new method uses one or two drugs instead of three and addresses legal challenges raised by inmates.

Shepherd had stopped executions in 2010 and ordered officials to switch to a single-drug or two-drug method. The state's latest filing asks him to lift his injunction.

Defense attorneys say the new execution rules that took effect Friday only end the argument over the validity of the state's former lethal injection procedure.
Also Friday, inmate Greg Wilson, whose mental health claims led Shepherd to halt executions, gave notice that he is withdrawing his challenge.

No good reason for a civilized country, especially one full of folks claiming Christ, to be executing people... will we ask God's blessing on the noose?
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

That is truly an interesting paradox..The pro-life people are inclined to support the death penalty...while the pro-death people are inclined to be against the death penalty!
.....At least in this case, anyway.. ;)

Now, for myself..although I don't like to see anybody die unnecessarily...if  death HAS to be, better it be the guilty murderer, rather than the most innocent of all persons!

Looks to me like a fairly simple choice, really.. :P

i don't know whether or not we will ask Gods's blessing "On the noose".

i found it VERY hypocritical of obama to stand there at his "coronation" and plead for equality for "Our gay brothers and sisters" and then end the speech by saying: "God bless America"...God does not condone homosexuality...period; he teaches and advocates repentance from it.

No hypocrisy in view. And it wasn't a coronation, it was an inauguration... you just don't like the guy being inaugurated.

In most cases, people take a different view after a loved-one is murdered.
Senator Percy from Illinois for instance.  he was anti-gun until his daughter was raped and murdered in his home.
he immediately armed his family.

BUGEYE, that's a whole different issue, than the state killing people after the fact.

I don't trust the state with the power of death.

the adversarial system we have too often has prosecutors focusing on winning, rather than justcie, and with the resources of the state at their disposal, they can do evil

I don't see Jesus there giving his approval for killing convicts

Having been involved with prison executions at a VERY LOW LEVEL of a very complex and multilevel procedure,  I  must say that while they are very sombering, they are necassary.  At the end of they day anyone who is involved with an execution is ultimatley responsible for ending someone's life- including the person who's life is going to end. They did it to themselves.
It's all a hot mess...........

There are criminals that can not be reformed, they should be hanged rather than waste resources and tax dollars by warehousing them in prisons. The problem is that we live in the age of the wimp.

Murder is a crime, but not all killing is murder.

Execution of a condemned criminal is legal and morally right. On babies, I view abortion of late term pregnancies as infanticide. But I don't see it that way for early pregnancies.

No, the killing is done by the state & it's minions. This may not be a conversation to have with someone invested in it.

There are people who've been wrongly executed. There have been other, exonerated after years on death row, as the state fought and scratched and dragged it's feet to avoid that exoneration.

We can have justice, without the death penalty. On balance, there'd be more justice.

A lot of people are against the death penalty until someone in their family is murdered.

Do you know this from first-hand experience? And do you offer this opinion, as a means of justifying the state killing people?

Iran kills its own citizens, calling executions necessary. We don't need to do that.

We see it all the time. Sarah Brady didn't go after guns until her husband was shot. People use emotions instead of logic, when a tragedy hits them.
What would you have us do with a homicidal maniac that kills over and over again?  If you put them in a hosp. for the insane, or in prison for life, where there's a chance they can be released back into society. Or escape to do it again. IMO and most others, when you choose to take the life of your fellow man, you have for fitted your right to life. You are a menace to society, and should be taken out of the equation, so others may live their lives without fear of those like you.

There is no perfect solution, but IMO it's the best one available to us.

Then maybe the French had the right idea with murders and life sentences in the Guiana penal
colony. From what I've read about it those prisoners wished they were dead .
Oh they had church there and it wasnt mandatory to attend . But the jungles or malaria usually took
care of what the noose didn't . But hay that's all PC and green isn't it , plus they made great fertilizer
for the jungle plants when they were buried. Now there is a great idea , no more capital punishment
and they live out their lives in a tropical paradise!

NW has an excellent point !!
That murderer who killed first responders in Webster,NY, was once convicted of the hammer murder of his own grandmother. However, he was later released..so he could kill some more..
        http://www.cnn.com/2012/12/24/justice/new-york-firefighters-shooter

The excessively liberal state called New York is so far out they some years ago enacted a law..saying the charge of "first degree murder" could only be applied if the victim were either a policeman...or what else?..A POLITICIAN..  Now, I am ready to admit most policemen are useful..the others, you can judge.
Now the legislature in their concern, is weighing the possibility that with any first responders being murdered, such will bring a "first degree" charge to the killer.  Obviously, the liberals figure that the lives of the police and their own lives, are worth more than the lives of we "peons".
People have seen time and again how killers are somehow or someway, often released from prison..just to kill again, or should I say some more.    Judges in Vermont have recently been releasing pedophiles..
Just recently a killer was RELEASED from custody, fortunately he was soon caught, but it could have been more murders.
   http://screen.yahoo.com/authorities-investigate-why-convicted-killer-234800655.html

People have generally lost respect for the legislative, judicial and penal systems, and it is not hard to figure out why (IMO).
If you don't want the truth, don't ask me.  If you want something sugar coated...go eat a donut !  (anon)

Well if we did the Guiana thing then they could aways get released. If they can swim for miles in
shark infested waters . But once again that is the natural way of doing things so the libs should be all
for that .
