Turn around time for warranty repair?

I bought a Handi Rifle in .22 Magnum. First time I tried it I discovered it had a centerfire firing pin and would simply dent the .22 Mag. in the center of the case and would not fire.

I returned it to the factory and it has been there (website shows it as received and logged in) three weeks with no word on when it will be back. I called Customer Service yesterday and all they could tell me was it was there and logged in, which I already knew.

I asked what the turn around time was for repairs and they had no idea. The only answer I got was "I don't know how many are ahead of it in the repair department".

Has anyone had a warranty issue and can tell me what their turn around time was?

Normal turn around for instock repairs is 2 weeks or so, if the rifle was factory made, not a second hand that someone fitted the barrel to a centerfire frame, it would likely take longer since essentially they need to issue a new firearm to you. Give H&R a call @ (866)776-9292 and ask for Lisa Walters Jeff Galloway, he can check with Ilion repair and find out what's happening.

Finally got word: "Your repair has been completed and the rifle has been shipped back to you.  UPS has it scheduled for delivery on Tuesday 3/5 by the end of the day.  The tracking number is 1Z1xxxxxxxxxxx.  The frame was mis-cut and has been replaced with a new one so do be aware that your serial number has changed."

It appears that the turn around time is now about 6 weeks.

I have a Taurus PT709 Slim in for repair and Taurus said it would be about 6 weeks.

Especially frustrating since these are both brand new firearms!

They may not have had a frame in stock to replace it with, they may have had to replace the barrel as well if it wouldn't fit the new frame, out of stock repairs will take longer, I had to wait 9 weeks for a 25-06 barrel once,  so I wouldn't set that 6 weeks in stone, as I said, most repairs that require parts that are instock at the time of the repair are done in a couple weeks, see the Ilion Satisfactory Report in the FAQs and the Thanks Brian56 sticky in the centerfire forum.

would that have been possible to chamber that to a centerfire? was it an sb2 frame? or sb1?

Warranty work doesn`t get you to the front of the line, it`s just free.

That's not really true, I think warranty work is handled in the order it was received for other warranty work. When accessory barrel orders have been back logged in the past, repairs have still been made quickly.
