Personally I don't like thumb breaks. The scabbard is good looking though.

William, I too like open top holsters but I often ride an ATV on my property and my neighbor's property. The ground is pretty rough in spots and while riding I've had my 9mm work it's way out of it's open top holster. With this I won't have to be concerned that might happen with my .45. Also, with an open top, and a long barreled handgun, when sitting the barrel often can push the handgun up out of the holster. The way the thumb-break is on this holster it won't slow down a draw at all and the added security that the .45 is secure is worth the peace of mind.
The final good point is that my wife won't bug me about carrying it cocked and locked since she can see the thumb-break between the hammer and firing pin. I know, it's not necesary, but I've lived with her for 40 years and gave up arguing with her long ago. Like the old cowboy saying, "Never p@@ off the cook!"
