New Holster Day ! :)
« on: February 05, 2013, 11:15:28 AM »
I got a pleasant surprise when I checked the mailbox today. Got my new G&G holster. Fit's my Rock Island like a glove. I'm quite thrilled with it and impressed with the prompt service I got. Ordered it late Friday night so got it pretty quick and the shipping was free. So whatcha all think?

I love a slide holster for a 1911.  They just seem to work just right.  And the thumb snap with leather between the hammer and pin is great.

Spirithawk. very nice. with that design of thumb break you should not have any trouble removing it and it should not increase your draw time.

Personally I don't like thumb breaks. The scabbard is good looking though.

William, I too like open top holsters but I often ride an ATV on my property and my neighbor's property. The ground is pretty rough in spots and while riding I've had my 9mm work it's way out of it's open top holster. With this I won't have to be concerned that might happen with my .45. Also, with an open top, and a long barreled handgun, when sitting the barrel often can push the handgun up out of the holster. The way the thumb-break is on this holster it won't slow down a draw at all and the added security that the .45 is secure is worth the peace of mind. :) The final good point is that my wife won't bug me about carrying it cocked and locked since she can see the thumb-break between the hammer and firing pin. I know, it's not necesary, but I've lived with her for 40 years and gave up arguing with her long ago. Like the old cowboy saying, "Never p@@ off the cook!" ;)

I bought it off Ebay but here is a link to Gould & Goodich site. It's # B809 second holster from the left top row. Click on the holster and options pop up. I got the one listed for a Colt 1911 as my Rock Island is almost an exact clone. They list it for Springfield just click model and then hand for right or left hand model. It sells for $68.11 I'd look on Ebay too. I won the bidding and got mine new  for $38.00 with free Expidited Shipping. Just type a search on Ebay for Gould & Goodrich. There's quite a few of their holsters on there.

I realy like it and was pleasantly surprised that even my Kel Tec PF-9 fits in it well. :)
