Now you get a better idea of what can be lurking on a western trap line. I routinely carry a S&W mod 34 with a 1.5 inch barrel to run traps...see what I meant when I said, "Wacky needs a bigger gun"?
This cat was fixin to cause problems for the rancher. He weighed 132 lbs (probably not actual weight since he had hung 24 hours prior to getting weight and I had to weigh him in pieces). He came to a rabbit call and dropped with a single round from my 22-250 imp delivered to the "sweet spot" where his neck and rib cage meet.
Now this last PIC I'm posting only so you can realize the mass of this beast. I ask Boggy if it was OK he agreed only for this purpose. That is a 3 lb coffe can next to his head and the bench top is a full 4 X 8 sheet! Every time I looked at the carcass and teeth I promised to carry my 357 in the future when I ran into similar tracks.
