Hope the pic of my new .357 Handi comes out. I installed an old Remington front sight and the Williams rear and thought it turned out well. Drill and tap was easy on the front. Will load up and head for the range.

Will do, had a scope on her last trip and at 50yds she shot around 2" but that was with a heavy wind and me shooting just over a range bag. Think I can do a lot better with some heavier boolits and a stiff load of Unique. Should be fun, have all kinds of expensive rifles and I like this one just fine.

updated: camod the stock and forend and added survival supplies in the stock. thought you might like to see it. A truly handy rifle for the mountains.

Yep, I just like experiementing with stuff, just finished a PVC bow, and a slingshot that can shoot regular arrows out of. This little Handi is really interesting and I got the bug from this site and all you fine fellows. Thanks(Ithink).

Next experiment, if you're up to it? Figure out an economical QD recoil pad to access the emergency items without tools.

I have done some work with velcro, will report back. There is some industrial stuff that looks promising. I also will probably build up the pistol grip area to give me a better, tighter grip.

I've been wanting to camo a couple of mine but have been way to busy on honeydo's.
But come this spring I think I'll sneak off and give it a try.
I've done a few regular guns, but not a handi yet.
Your's looks nice.

I use the camo flat paint spray, spray light green on, dry for an hour, then I use the straw out of an old broom, lay it all over the stock pretty thick then spray dark green, let dry, reinstall the straw then spray with dark brown. You could reverse this of course or use another color but I have done 4 of my rifles this way and they all look just a little different but nice. Hope that help. oh, I took the individual straws then kind of clustered them with duct tape so they hold together and in some cases I hold them and move them as I spray. Will post another pic of the other rifles a little later.

Two more stocks I did. Notice the pistol grips built up with Bondo for better grip. on the 10/22 I cut the stock at the grip then angled it up for better cheek weld for the red dot then bondoed and glass it for strength then camoed it. The other is a .223 Axis that I built up the grip, it feels so much more comfortable. Longtime trapshooter so all my trapguns had wood stock done that way, I used to make a lot of trap stocks with a tight pistol grip. Just for the info, hope you enjoy lookin.

Nice job on the camo devil, and after you play with the 357 for awhile rent the reamer and take it to the max. As a side note, with your supplies I've added a small bic lighter, cotton balls and toothpick size pices of fat wood/ lighter wood with my fire starter it will take a spark almost instantly, don't know if you have ever tried to make a fire with just the magnesium block and striker it can be a real bear to get going.

yes the mag block can be tricky but I have done it so much got it down pretty good. Wouldn'td argue with your route a bit, a sound way to go also. If I hike anywhere in the CO mountains I always have a good sized fanny pack on me as well as the Swiss Army knife. Was lost in the wilderness when I was 14 for an entire day when elk hunting, taught me a good lesson. Dad found me after dark I was pretty worried.

I've had good luck using a pine tree branch on a camo paint job to get the appearance of grass. Start with a coat of the light tan, lay the pine branch over it and hit it with the brown & green paint. If I get a chance this weekend I'll get a pic and post it.

That's whats fun about camoing stocks, there is so many different materials you can use. I used pine branches of my front tree for a Saiga rifle and used desert tan and dark brown and it came out really interesting. You can tell I'm old when this gives me a charge, oh well, all fun. Post some of your pics, give me some fresh ideas and Thanks.

can you take a pic of the barrel with the rear AND front sight in the pic against a light background?

I want to do the same thing, and would like to see how it looks.

Rear, ordered from Midway, fits in factory tapped rail holes. looks nice and fits perfect.will add post with front.

front sight was an old Remington ramp I have had for 30 years so it needs to be cleaned up and cold blued so please excuse the pic. I d & t 6/48"s and it worked great. finding a front ramp is not easy, this old one just happened to fit the conture just right. hope this helps it really does look good.

I have some old R700 front ramps and I am thinking if I put irons on, it'll be them.

they have a nice ramp shape.

for the 45/70's I put the shotgun shorties on them. they fit well, but the screw holes do need to be enlarged.
