45 colt to 460 S&W rechamber?
« on: February 08, 2013, 04:03:25 PM »
Oldsolja talking about the 45/410 barrel got me to thinking,  is there anything special you need to do when you rechamber a 45 colt to 460 S&W so you can shoot 45 colt and 454 Casull also?

Put a heavier stock or at least a recoil pad on it for the 460, mine shoots 250gr at 2500-2600fps, and factory 200gr @ 2875fps.  ;)

Tim,
It sounds like you are plenty prepared for any Kodiak or polar bears that might wander down into your hunting area. :o ;D

Naw, that's the light gun, the 50-140 with 570gr solids @ 2200fps is for the big stuff!  ;D

Just don't use the 45/410 barrel for the 460 rebore....remember in the cartoons when the barrel blew up and looked like a peeled banana?
12g shortie w/chokes,Tamer .410,12g "Buck" slug gun w/20g extra barrel, 12g smooth bore tracker I, 45/410 w/22vp matched set, 7mm-08, .308 20",

my avatar pic is my 1960 Rambler I bought in 1972 for $175..6 banger 3-on-the-tree...drove it for 5 yrs  22mpg.. was "hot-rodding" (LOL) one night...tore out 1st/reverse gear. Drove it that way for 2 yrs(with no reverse and only 2nd and high)  Had to really plan ahead when parking.
sold it for $125

GBO sponsor 4D, I was the first to use Fred's reamer after I kept badgering him to buy one!  ;) Be sure to let him know it's for a rifle in case he has a cylinder reamer.
