By cutting the hours of postal employees, Elijah argues minorities and women will be negatively impacted.
He explained on MSNBC:
 

“You’re talking about just this reduction … from six days to five days, will cut anywhere from 25,000 to 30,000 employees.  And with regard to Asian, African-Americans, and Hispanics, they comprise about 40 percent of the Postal Service employees.  So it’s logical to believe if they were to lose that 30,000 jobs, easily 40 percent of them would be African-Americans, Hispanics, and Asian-Americans.”

According to The Hill, Cummings proceeded to point out that over 40 percent of the post office’s employees are also women:
 

“So you have a lot of women, many of whom are single women —

head of household, and they depend upon that decent wage, decent working conditions and benefits to take care of their families.”

regardless of race, cutting jobs hurts economies. every dollar paid to labour is spent into the economy. dollars spent elsewhere can end up leaving the country

Post Office has been one of the biggest waste of tax payers money out there. Well over paid for what there doing, bennifits and retirement better than most and inefficient. So now layoffs get to use the race card.

does anyone else remember back in the day the PO was run amuck and the phone company was efficent and only a dime . So they de-regulate the phone company , WHY ? should just turn it over to companies like UPS . It would cost less be on time and no more PO employees going POSTAL.

SHOOTALL. Years ago our local phone co faced a fine for being too effecient, making too much money if they didn't spend it, so they bought a 5 or 6 + acre tract and built new facilities. Good service, so much better than in Lou. POWDERMAN.
