I have a guard cat. Someone even drives slowly by the house, she is growling and pacing at the front door. Mess with her and you have 200 lbs of protective dogs to contend with..........and then there's me.

I spent a lot of money and effort fencin my half acre so my one dog wouldn't bother anyone. I built another fence for Linda's 9 lb house dog.
Some of my neighbors say their cats are supposed t be able to roam, because that's what cats do, so they roam. For a little while.

that it's also ok for you to go in their
yard and climb on the cars and stretch
and scratch the paint and run muddy footprints
all over the car and windshield and pee all
over their yard and porch and lay on their
porch and have all your fleas jump off you
and infest their house and property and
you can go at will in their flowerbed or garden
or lawn and take a big smelly fly-attracting
rotten fish-smelling you-know-what.

that's the way i would interpret their statement.
what's good for the stinky tomcat is. . . . .

Told a neighbor the other day, while consoling her about her lost cat.

If you love your cats keep em in your yard and nobody will be able to hurt them. Same advice to dog owners. Now my neighbors don't live that close. Closest one is quarter Mile away.

You guys must have some nasty evil cats coming onto your property (more than likely though, you just want any ol' excuse to kill them). Ones that come in my yard are pretty much just passing through. Never once had one do any damage deserving death. The seagulls that fly over my house and crap a pint at a time are more bothersome but I don't break out a shotgun every time one lands on my roof.

Dogs on the other hand, barking at all hours (while kept on the neighbors' property) is what drives me nuts. Not annoying enough for me to want to kill someone's pet over it though.

All cats are nasty & evil however, I don't need a excuse to do away with them. I consider it my duty to do so. As far as barkin dogs go? I agree. If I own a mouthy dog I alter his tendency to be so. I also don't care for annoying neighbors, but that remedy is still being evaluated.

Make sure you use the full strength ethylene glycol,not the weaker pre-mix. Some felines are to smart for this, a #6 hook embedded in a chunk of carp gets the educated ones. Be sure to position or place such that unintended targets are not acquired.The public is finally starting to realize the truth about this species.Best thing I have heard about coyotes is they like to eat cat.Anyone seen the first five minutes of "Book of Eli" starring Denzel Washington?

Victor they are evil and nasty, well evil anyway. The ones that are just passing through your place are likely headed here to kill and play with my rabbits, squirrels, etc . And don't get me started on the chicken eatn dogs(a different thread) . I gen give em all one chance, ........ Same with neighbors.

i wouldn't poison any domesticated animals.
it's not their fault their owners/former owners
are jerks. it'll have to be a shot or a conibear
to do the deed humanely.

To each his own.

I consider it "my duty" to forgive my neighbors' minor animal trespasses, wind-blown tree leaves, a kid's ball in my yard, etc. My Father (who wasn't a Christian) taught me to be tolerant of such things, and to never secretly damage someone's property over any dispute instead of confronting a man face to face. "Shoot, shovel & shut up" falls into that category.

About 15 years ago some concerned citizen poisoned our neighbor's dogs (yes, they were barkers) in their yard. Never saw a family so crushed with grief outside of a human death. I opt not to kill someone's pet; I know it (even a nasty evil cat) might be considered a dear friend to some kid. My desire to keep it from possibly crapping in my yard or sitting on my car is negligible in comparison.

It's not neighborly to let your animals wander onto another's property but it's cowardly to kill someone's pet without personally bringing the animal's body to the door of the owner if you do so.

Lighten up victor. You try to talk to them they get mad, or deny its their cat. Call animal control, owner denies and gets mad. Try takin a cat or dog you just killed to its owner. Now you gotta prove it was on your property not theirs. While your moral lecture sounds good, and very "manly" it is nonsensical, and "extremely confrontational. Cat owners as a general rule, very lackadaisical, and let their cats roam. If you don't great. But your the exception not the rule.

I guess my experience has been different with stray cats. I live out in the country and have cats dumped by me on a regular basis. I have a rather large back yard fenced with a 6' chain link fence for the dogs. I have never had a cat in 20 yrs dare step foot in the back(even though my dogs are cat friendly.) Any other cats has scrammed the moment they have seen me set foot outside. None have done any damage to my property other than leaving the occasion foot print on my truck as they scrounging for food. ( my truck is general dirty as it is a work truck and it's always been when I have inadvertently left a fast food bag thrown in the bed). Therefore, I don't see how a well placed BB (not buck) wouldn't solve a stray cat problem.

Almost all my place is fenced and has a cat hatin dog in it BUT! My front yard flower beds smell like a liter box if I don't keep the cats thinned out. You have company on the veranda and they shouldn't have to smell the neighbor's cat crap.

You need to be like me.....my front flower beds are hard clay and I kill everything I plant in them. My biggest smell pollution comes from the darn dairies.

after 24 hours shake well and release.........might add a nasty note or paint ..or old motor oil

Okay Dee. You stated your opinion and I stated mine. Notice that I said "To each his own, I opt not to, YMMV, etc.." If you feel you're doing the right thing, carry on.

I read a lot of your posts and I think we agree on most things. This just happens to be one where we don't.

What are you baiting with? It was my intention to trap the neighbor cats and drop them off at animal control so they have to pay to get them back. I figured if they had to fork out cash a few times they might think twice about turning the cats loose during the day to tear up my garden. My plan never worked. Those little vermin never come near the trap

semi auto paint ball gun......first shot hold ON, 2nd, 3rd, 4th.etc,...etc..you gotta lead em by about 5' cause they can really run fast.
No kill option. Also could use color coded paint balls to inform cat's owner. Green: cat's been in my yard, yellow: I'm warning you,...RED: you got a last warning.
Other option: same as what I use for squirrels in bird feeder: 110 Volts in solid stainless steel wire on visited platform. ONLY plug in long extension cord for a moment and never leave it plugged in or 'non targets' could die or get unjured. This has killed only ONE squirrel out of about 300 or so 'shock treaments'. After about 3 shocks they get the message and do not come back. The one squirrel was killed when I thought his foot was not touching a wire [on feeder perch] and I left the extension cord plugged in for 10 seconds. He was.
I have video of it. Fun is to shock squirrel in feeder when a 2nd squirrel is on ground under him. Shocked squirrel thinks the other squirrel "did it" and he will chase the 2nd squirrel out of sight!
