Too big to fail has become too big for trial
« on: February 15, 2013, 04:51:46 PM »
Citigroup , JPMorgan , Bear Stearns , all blatantly responsible for the financial crisis yet all these white collar crooks have all gotten off pretty much scott free with just settlements. Not a single one has been prosecuted.

Yesterday Elizabeth Warren went right at the financial regulators and embarrassed them with a straight forward question a lot of us have been asking .
When was the last time you took a Wall Street bank to trial?

“We do not have to bring people to trial,” Thomas Curry, head of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, assured Warren, declaring that his agency had secured a large number of “consent orders,” or settlements.

“I appreciate that you say you don’t have to bring them to trial. My question is, when did you bring them to trial?” she responded.

“We have not had to do it as a practical matter to achieve our supervisory goals,” Curry offered….

“There are district attorneys and United States attorneys out there every day squeezing ordinary citizens on sometimes very thin grounds and taking them to trial in order to make an example, as they put it.

I’m really concerned that ‘too big to fail’ has become ‘too big for trial,’” Warren said.

Yes I had seen that ....

This is the version I liked best. No truer words spoken.

The same folks who tell us Americans to stand on our own two feet , pull ourselves up by the bootstraps , are the same folks who rigged the game and when the house of cards finally came crashing down , These are the same folks who were the first to run first to run to their buddy Paulson, congress, and the govt asking for the handout.

Yes indeed ....God made a banker.

yes ,

I still scratch my head (and apparently so does Warren how these criminals and their companies were able to get away with their fortunes intact, while the rest of general public and shareholders bore the brunt.  Paulson and his cronies and the manufactured too big to fail so we must hand over billions in Taxayers monies which most went to exec bonuses.  I would no sooner advoocate for deregulation then I would let the Fox watch the hen house.

About time Warren is taking regulators to task who were just as much at fault not only with the crisis , but the ongoing cover-up.
The penalties are a joke.

I want Elizabeth Warren for President! (The right's worst nightmare--- they thought having a black guy was bad for them!)   ;D
If you give up, THEY don't have to win.

"'Cause what they do in Washington, they just take care of number 1. And number 1 ain't you. $__t, you ain't even number 2!" Frank Zappa

The greatest idea the right ever had is personal responsibility; the greatest idea the left ever had is social responsibility. Both take effort.

The Founding Fathers had complete access to the Bible, but they came up with the Constitution as our governing document.
