scoping my nef

Ive got two handi-rifles one is a 44 mag and the other a 30-06 what  Im looking for is advise on what power are ideal on these I would like to stay around 200-300 dollar range Ive been looking around and just dont know  :D thanks in advance

I would go with a fixed power on the 44 mag and a 3-9x40 on the 30-06. I like the Nikon Buckmaster I have. The Leupolds are great scopes also. Either can be had for 200.00 or a little less.

Ranger.....

My son and I shoot a 243, and 270 respectively, and we both use Bushnell Banner series 3x9x40.   A little less than the Nikon BBF mentioned...(which is a great scope by the way)....and quite a bit less than the Leupold.    The Bushnell has done well for us.  Your local gunshop can give you a wide range of choices..

i love SWIFT scopes. they are so clear, and very sweet. i only own 2, one is a 2-7x40, and the other is a very pretty silver 3-9x40. i am trying to get a fixed 4x40 from a friend of mine.  boy would i love to have that for my brush gun. but i know there are alot of leu lovers out there. and there are nice, but i fell for swift back before i could afford leus, and now that i can, i have not wanted one. but only my 2 cents. FYI if you are looking for cheaper scopes, they tasco world class 2-8x32, or the 3-9x40 is very hard to beat at under $50 for either one brand new.

Count me in as one of those that love a Leupold, I only wish I could afford one. :)  Actually I do have a Leupold 2.5-8x40 Vari-X II on my 7mm-08, it's a bit long in the tooth, but still works very well. I'm looking for a stronger scope for my Ultra Varmint. I can't afford anything too pricey and I'm contemplating getting the BSA Contender Target 8-32x50AO for $89.99 at Cabellas.

I think you can find what your looking for there. My choices for your guns...I have a Leupold 2x7x33 on Leupolds QWR's for my marlin 1895GS 45-70 and it is Sweeeeeeet works like a charm at any setting and holds it's zero coming on and off,and at the 2x setting it is great for those up close shots you'll probably have and you can still crank it up to 7x and the P.O.A. won't shift a bit.it would work great for your 44Mag...on my 308 Survivor   I have a Simmons Whitetail Expidition 4x12x42AO and it really is 1 heck of a great scope too,this one would be just right for your 30-06...gives you enough magnification for those long shots and you can drop down to 4x for that up close shot if you need to.

The Simmons isn't made anymore,but you still can find great deals on them for lots of different on line stores.The Leupold will set you back around $179.00 and I've seen the Simmons for as little as $120.00..Both have worked well for me and I can give them both a thumbs up.

Ranger I agree with Mac on leupold 2x-7x, I have one on my 356 win. but I owned a Simmons 3x-9x Whitetails Exp. came apart on my 870 SPS Deer gun 3 shots of 3 inch mags and it wouldn't hold the zero. Just my experience.

You might want to look into a Sightron II 3x9x42 for $200.00.  I just put one on my Survivor and am impressed with the optics and quality of the scope.  I had a problem with the first one I was sent having dust inside the tube but it was replaced and the new one was fine.  I have since found out that contaminated tubes occurs with alot of scopes regardless of price and I found the same in my Burris scope as well. If you do some checking on the net you will find alot of positive posts for Sightron.

I'd suggest you look at Weaver scopes.  I have a couple that I really like.  I think even their Grand Slam models fall into your 200-0300 dollar range.

i called swfa or www.riflescopes.com.i have ordered from these folks and found what i was looking for a good price.i ordered a 3.5x10x45 bushnell for i think around a $90 to $100 dollars. good scope for the money.

Leupold Rifleman is a lower priced option, Bushnell 3200 Elite, Nikon Buckmasters...I've heard good things about Swift scopes but I have never had the opportunity to actully sample one.

Nice 06. I have one similar to it with a Bushnell 4 power. May install a Simmons on it.
