Finally found and posted in the Classified Ads!
« on: February 16, 2013, 02:31:16 PM »
I made some halfhearted attempts to find the classifieds over the years and finally broke down and did something no self-respecting man ever wants to do:  I asked for directions.  Yes a search found a brief statement by da bossman to the effect that you gotta be signed in to even see 'em.  So I signed in and posted ads for a Lyle cannon firing mech, 40mm cannon barrels, and upcoming auctions of Hotchkiss 1.65-inch mountain gun ammo.

John,
You've had items in the classifieds before. I will not soon forget a gem of a brass howitzer that you had listed. If I recall, it was about 16" long and must have been made as a kind of comic presentaion piece for a dentist. It had a cast brass crest with a tooth and some other odd decorations on it that was screwed to the barrel, and it had dolphins that were also attached to the barrel by screws. Do you still have that thing?
RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

The one thing that you can almost always rely on research leading to, is more research.
