I`m not going to judge the "shooter."   Unfortunately for him, his emotions got the best of him and will be held accountable.  He`s not the first nor will he be the  last person to go down this road.
Drunk drivers do kill/maim lots of folks though.  Is it really a disease or and out let for some kind weakness ?  Seems as though drunk drivers are like cats, no matter what damage they do. They have 9 lives.   Most get no jail time but are back on the road in a flash.  Newspaper/TV accounts  attest to that.  Nothing like a drunk behind the wheel. Rest assured , he or she is guarantied to ruin somebodies life.

Be nice if one or both turned out to be "criminal invaders". Then we could say they deserved it!  ;)

if drunk drivers were punished for their crimes one of two things would happen either there would be less drunk drivers due to attrition or they would wise up and not drive drunk . most likely a bit of both would happen.

I'm tired of seeing the news where men and women are on their 3rd-7th DWI arrest.  I think the DA's , Judges and the lawyers need a attitude adjustment.

FPH. Agreed Sir. A local hit a woman head on, killed her child, she was in critical condition, she will be disabled for life. This happened about 3 + miles from me. I know the driver. He had a long string of dwi convictions. His license had been revoked, he dove anyway. I worked in a liquor store years ago and had refused to serve him several times, as did the VFW the day he killed the child. He should have been locked up long before that. In his case the system did not work. POWDERMAN.  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

Now suppose the murdered man was father with his own two kids at home?

Should his family send the murderer a thank-note.

I know not all on this thread are Christians, but it would seem none are.
DO NOT give me the excuse of " well what if it were your...?

If I am that weak and pathetic then I had best go out a put a gun to my head, as hell is what I deserve.

My father, who did hold grudges, still when EVER something happened to me said-- before you start blaming anyone else, go look in the mirror and blame the person who is fifty percent at fault for being there in the first place.

Now suppose the murdered man was father with his own two kids at home?suppose he was does that make is action somehow OK ?

Should his family send the murderer a thank-note.What is this supposed to mean ?

I know not all on this thread are Christians, but it would seem none are.Who made you judge ?
DO NOT give me the excuse of " well what if it were your...? Did not consider doing so anyway.

If I am that weak and pathetic then I had best go out a put a gun to my head, as hell is what I deserve. Interesting post for a christian .

My father, who did hold grudges, still when EVER something happened to me said-- before you start blaming anyone else, go look in the mirror and blame the person who is fifty percent at fault for being there in the first place. So the two children were at fault ? The op was if we were on a jury would we convict the father . Every defense you offered for the drunk could be used for the father so what were you trying to say ? You can claim forgivness/compassion  for the drunk but we cannot for the father.
Being a christian only when it fits your side of a debate is thin.

I'd say that after the 1st conviction the 2nd should be your last for a very long time.

I think the bad guy should have no more chances than the ones he kills. If a drunk driver kills some one he should never drive again.

So murdering a man and taking him away from his family is OK with you OS???

His family comes up to you after you shoot him in the head, and you say... "that son of a b%^&* deserved it"

That's how you feel about the whole thing?

Answer me this:

You get in a car accident and you kill two kids.

Should you be shot in the head?

Never said anything here but that if it happened to me I prolly would do the same thing. said nothing about "accidental" killing some one. Drunkenly murdering innocent children ain't no accident.

Not sure what exactly I'd do but the emotional shock of seeing my children killed like that makes me think I'd be hard pressed not to shoot the drunk or to convict that Father that did.

I'm not as self righteous as some of the folk here. maybe that father was not phi sically able to beat that guy to death so he shot him.

If I did shoot him, you and some here could whine or prosecute or what ever. I probably would not care. Have you ever lost someone you loved needlessly? it doesn't make you wanna debate the issues at the time I assure you.

Why is it one man can be forgiven for his poor judgement when getting drunk but another can't when over come by rage when he is provoked by seeing is sons killed ? The drunk chose to get drunk the father did not choose to be faced with the killing of his children.

Forgiven??

Drunk drivers who kill people go to jail.... they aren't "forgiven."

This man who killed a person is going to jail.

They are both murderers.  They both had a choice and made the wrong one.

It seems that some cannot distinguish the difference between intentionally driving drunk, and having an accident. Their attempt at a guilt trip by trying to "blend" a drunk driver into havin an "accident" might work on the weak minded, but not me. The two are not the same, and only a fool would think they were.

So he had an intent to murder??

He did not.

The father did.

He had a five minute walk to plan and execute an injured man.  While leaving his family helpless.

And the father did not know he was drunk.

I'll ask you dee. No one else has the balls to answer I asked it before.

If your 20 year old son accidentally killed two boys, would you think it right that their father shoot your son in the head?
