i'm canadian and this does not surprise me. but i have also heard of other cases here like this where the homeowner has alot less problem with an investigation. i assume anywhere there are shots fired at intruders there will be some sort of investigation. unless you also use a shovel to complete the job. interesting that he had so many video feeds. wonder if he has been having lots of problems with trespassers. maybe some drug activity in that area with conflicts arising. that happens here. probably should have left the handgun locked up and used a shotgun. the handgun laws are very restrictive, and only to be used at approved range facilities. the aggressiveness of prosecution would vary some depending on the situation, interpretation of justification and all that. i can imagine legal fees are huge and buddy made a quick decision that is costly in alot of ways but he is neither dead or homeless so that is positive and each case before the courts helps future victims defending themselves i hope. and we did throw out the long gun registry this year which saves money. you still register handguns and need a firearms license. my perspective anyway
