Ok I hear all the time the AR was built from the ground up to kill people . Often followed by it has no other purpose . So what is that suposed to mean ? Like what rifle type wasn't at first built to kill people ? The Bolt gun was , the semi was , the single shot was , the lever gun was and the list goes on even the air rifle back in the day. Even the revolving cyl. and pump guns from Colt were built to kill people.
So why do the anti's even bring it up ?

That our guns serve us in other capacities and will NEVER hopefully have to be used against an assailant is beside the point to them. Their real goal is far different than their purported one.  J

Your exactly right Shootall. Thats what they were designed for. Yet, the automobile kills far more people, don't hear a peep about putting speed limiters on them. Or, shut down imediatley if a cell phone is on for a call. gypsyman

Because they have no other reason to condemn something that they really know nothing about!
If they knew anything at all about guns they would see that the AR is nothing more than a very small caliber with a few add ons that makes it look mean and that a standard semi auto hunting rifle with an extended clip and a pistol grip, (while not quite looking as mean as the AR) it will do everything the AR can.
Paint it BLACK and most of the ones bitching wouldn't know the difference.

Thats right, and the only wording I'd add is that its a talking point to sway ignorant people. Don't look at it from our perspective, look at it from a persons perspective that doesn't have a clue, and you will see why they do it. 

As for one of the other capacities, our guns are just plain fun to shoot.
