Our three straight stocked H&R's
« on: February 23, 2013, 05:26:01 PM »

Picked up my 30-30 Handi today, got it home and swapped out the stocks for the Buff Classic set i picked up here. Thanks Oldsoldja!  Took it to the place and test fired it with some OLD ammo i had on hand.

Snapped a few pocs while out and about. I'll upload those and post shortly.

Anyway, in the pic above is:
Top - Daughter's Topper 30-30 wearing a Nikon Prostaff 2-7x32.
Middle - My new 30-30 Handi with its new Buffalo Classic stockset. Soon to be wearing a Leupold 2-7x33 just as soon as i get unlazy and order the EGW rail.
Bottom - My 45 Colt Classic Carbine with Buffalo Classic sight set.

I love the H&R's I've been able to accumulate lately. I think the straight stocks make them look like classics.

One other thing i had not noticed before today is the extra long forend of the BC bs the standard rifles. I guess to compensate for the longer barrels. I love the look and think a 16" barrel would REALLY set it off. :)

That's a nice family photo.

looks great!  I like the Walnut stocks over the Pallet wood, laminated, or synthetic stocks - and love a good blue job with nice color case hardening.  Do like the straight stocks - I have a Buffalo Carbine in 45LC.

Yeah, the factory really missed a clue by not offering 'stock options' (the meaningful type!), especially on the traditional caliber rifles.
The good thing is it makes our 'semi-customs' that much better (nice bunch there).

Lot of options for after market stocks, in Walnut and other nicely figured woods. :)   All it takes is time and sandpaper. LOL   ;D   Heck, I'd make you a set of what ever style of stock and forearm you'd like for the right trade.

true but that can get costly. Nice factory offerings would make it a LOT more affordable!

They look great!!

I wish H&R used more Walnut of other stock designs. Ones with a higher monte carlo for good cheek weld with a scope.

Looks good Joe, you should have seen all the buffalo classics at the gun show today. I saw at least 5. Only reasonable priced nef/handi though was that nef 20 i bought. One of the b/c was $750... i asked him if that included the black hawk next to it.
