Todays Gun Show
« on: February 24, 2013, 10:45:44 AM »
I seen Remington Thunderbolt 22 ammo for sale @ $44 a brick of 500.

Ar-15 30 round mags being sold by the case for $480.

No Glock hand guns.

No Ruger hand guns.

Many Taurus pistols.

No other rim fire ammo at all.

The last one here in Montgomery, Al was sad too. Right now I have an ample supply of reloading stuff, 22's and what guns I want. I may still buy something out of the local buy, sell, trade magazine if it strikes my fancy and the price isn't insane. It would have to be a real deal as I'm not really looking for anythng.

To many people panic buying at the gun shows.  Your best bet for ammo and reloading supplies, at least here in central PA, is the small, local gun shops.  There is one, about 10 minutes from my house, that is always fully stocked with ammo and reloading supplies, at fair prices.  I guess it does vary a lot by region though...

din't go to this one here today.
don't care to see my fellow citizens
pushing and shoving to buy something
they don't need but they're buying to
resell or to get so someone else won't have.
the total lack of any kind of .22 lr anywhere
does kind of alarm me, only because my
nephew cuts into my supply so deeply.
haven't seen a box of .22 lr of any kind
on the shelf anywhere for a couple of months.

Gun show in Barron last weekend:  Couldn't find any 308 brass.  Saw primers at $50. & $65. per thousand.  No one bought any.  One (new) table had what looked like boxes of 100 pistol ammo that were taped shut.  Asked how many it contained: "don't know".  It became apparent that there only 50 in each box at a $1.00 a round.   I bought a box of 50 from a man that had been doing shows for years for $25.00.

Lots of AR types for 50% over retail up to twice retail and AK types for 2-3X retail.  My favorite was the guy who had racks of SKSs for $500.    Too many mercenaries for me.  I left ashamed of what I saw.
Vote them all out, EVERY election!

Does anyone remember the scene from "Quigley Down Under" showing the aborigines lined up on the skyline as far as you could see?   That needs to be US!

I was at that same show on Sunday. I was troubled by what I saw, the extreme prices. There is another gun show in Cameron March 23-24. I am not sure if I want to go.

I went to my first gun show in the last two years Sat. I was surprised in the amount of AR style guns available and the prices weren't quite as crazy as I expected.  I was told things have softened up a bit because it doesn't look like the assault weapons ban will pass.  A guy selling exploding targets was doing a land office business. Federal 550 bulk paks of .22 long rifle seemed to be selling quite well at $45.00 to $50.00 bucks a pop. I saw a good supply of powder for anyone willing to spend  $33.00 or there abouts a pound. I saw some large rifle primers for $60..00/1000.  I sold a Beretta 9mm for a price I was happy with and passed up a good deal on a Marlin .219 Zipper. (I found out later that dies and brass went with the gun.)  It was an unusual feeling to go home with more money than I took!

They don't really ring my bell and I thought the price was so-so. I reached for my phone to call my neighbor to see if he was interested and discoved I left my phone in the truck. When I got home I told him about it so he went back the next day to buy it because he thought it was too good a price to pass up.That's when he discoved it was sold and that the price had also included dies and ammo. When he told me what he has paid for loaded ammo I knew I really screwed up.

The 22lr is the scary thing , our retailers say they have no clue when they will get anymore .
I have plenty , but plinking is right now out of the question .
What's bad is a lot of other country's allow their citizens to have a 22lr !
And buy the ammo for it . Even those that won't let them have anything else .

was at a nearby wal-mart and talking to some guys who had just come from a gun show complaining about prices. the shelves were pretty bare at the wal-mart. they were not impressed and let the gun counter guy know. he was saying they were trying to limit volume of sales but people were coming in to buy cases. went to a small gun shop after and saw the 50 $ bricks of .22s.

I've never had an AR. I used to own an MAK-90, liked it... sold it for over twice what I paid, and that was about fifteen years ago. Wish I'd kept it. But I think I'm gonna get an AR... after the votes pass, panic subsides, and prices drop WAAAAY down and the suckers who paid 1500 bucks need to sell....

What is all this fuss about a .22lr shell anyway? It is not what you call a defensive or hunting round. Just about good for plinking only.

I went to another gun show in Eau Claire Wisconsin today. I saw plenty of AR-15's for $1000-$1500, but no ammo for them. Also seen plenty of 22 rimfire for $6 a box of 50....
