Pluto's new moon is going to be named Vulcan, after influence by Star Trek fans, and Leonard Nimoy.

Hey, wait a second.  I thought Pluto was no longer a planet.  Can an asteroid (or whatever they're calling it now, have a "moon")?

Dang, dakotashooter, you're post popped up while I was typing.  How is that possible?  The times on each show yours was two hours earlier.  Strange.

Not according to any definition I've read.  They all indicate that a moon is a planetary satellite.

Do a little more research.  I wasn't always hustling pool and drinking beer when I was in college.

I try to not rely on wiki.  Webster's for me.  A few others I've looked at indicate the same (a planetary satellite).       1

a often capitalized : the earth's natural satellite that shines by the sun's reflected light, revolves about the earth from west to east in about 2912 days with reference to the sun or about 2713 days with reference to the stars, and has a diameter of 2160 miles (3475 kilometers), a mean distance from the earth of about 238,900 miles (384,400 kilometers), and a mass about one eightieth that of the earth —usually used with the  b : one complete moon cycle consisting of four phases  c : satellite 2; specifically : a natural satellite of a planet

I never took an astronomy class, so I'll just bow to your greater training in that matter.
