Well that was fast.
At least it will be.
Just weeks after its introduction at the Detroit Auto Show, Hennessey Performance has announced plans to boost the power of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray to an astounding 1,000 hp.
While the factory Stingray will have a naturally aspirated 450 hp 6.2-liter V8 under the hood when it goes on sale this summer, the Hennessey package adds twin turbochargers, an intercooler, high-flow cylinder heads, a custom cat-back exhaust system and a host of other refinements topped off by a 1 year, 12,000 mile warranty and a set of Hennessey premium floormats.
Try to get your Chevy dealer to throw those in for free.
Hennessey offers a similar upgrade for the existing Corvette, and the price for the modifications on the Stingray is $69,500 on top of the expected $55,000 cost of the car. Althought that might seem like a lot, the current top of the line Corvette ZR1 retails for about $124,000 and has a relatively measly 638 hp.
Hennessey tells FoxNews.com it already has two orders, but for those who can live without four-digit horsepower numbers, it is also offering a lower-priced 800 hp version, as well as 700 hp and 600 hp supercharged packages.
