Trunnion pockets seem strange.
« on: February 26, 2013, 10:16:07 AM »
An interesting fleabay cannon barrel with what appears to be strange trunnion pockets. Could be camera illusion but they appear to be off. Cant put my finger on it but looking at them they seem strange.

I guess whoever buys it can throw it up in der millin machine and re do Them.  Or use to line up there trunnions to be welded.

Please dont take this the wrong way, but what make you say its an interesting barrel.?

I find it quite unsexy, wrong proportions, wrong size of trunnion (or lack of).. I find it ugly as sin, but we are all different  :)  (and thank God for that, or the world would be a boring place)

Unknown quanity and quality... it would be better to start from scratch with known material rather than something that was poorly machined.... you spend more time fixing other people's mistakes than it's worth.... And for what it is selling for you can buy an awful lot of roundstock for.....
Mr president I do not cling to either my gun or my Bible.... my gun is holstered on my side so I may carry my Bible and quote from it!

It looks to be around a .75 caliber bore, and it appears like those pockets should be widened for larger diam. trunnions anyway. I'll go along with neros on this one, it's kind of a funky lookin' tube.
RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

The one thing that you can almost always rely on research leading to, is more research.
