Ever stretched a contender frame?
« on: February 28, 2013, 06:25:03 AM »
Anyone have a story about ever stretching a contender frame, and what it took to do it?
What exactly happens when it has been stretched......headspace issues arrise?

Now, I'm not looking to turn a contender into something it's not.........but I would like to shoot 45/70 350gr cast boolits up to Springfield pressures, 18,000 CUP.
The Lyman 49th edition manual that I have shows a 405gr cast boolit going 1578fps under a charge of 41.0 gr RL7. This is in the contender section with a 14" barrel. Of course, the pressure is not published for this load, it's left blank.
..........just seems like thats stepping along pretty fast for a Springfield load??
