Patty has a rupture in her upper abdomen. Our dr got her a quick appt with a surgeon for today, he said it needs immediate ttention, the only thing keeping her bowel in is the skin.
I had an appt with a heart dr for today too, I cancelled it, now can't get in 4 3 weeks. Since our Ill trip my nerves have been shot and have been using the nitros pretty regular. I took 1 yesterday evening, another after going to bed last night. I honestly wasn't sure I would wake up this morning.

We are leaving xtra early so I can transfer Moms old car into Pattys name. I don't know what I'm going to do, Pattys health and well being is my main concern at this point. Social sec has been bugging her and scaring her to death. She has feared for years that she would lose her med coverage and be left to die. It's not something she can help, it's what her head is telling her.

They told her yesterday that she will be going OFF disability and be put on me as my spouse, she will lose her med card, but it's good for 2 more months. YEP, lots of stress there too. I'm hoping we won't have another bad day like yesterday, so far very little chest pain today.
She'll probably be scheduled for surgery very soon. Prayers needed and appreciated. Charlie.

Charlie ..here's some prayers for you..may God bless! A Oldshooter said..stick with the asprin until you can see the Doc.. lowers your risk..thick blood is tougher on the pump.

Praying for both you and Patty - I'm praying that the Lord will guide Patty's surgeon and that she will have complete and quick recovery. I'm also praying that you will be given an extra portion of grace to help calm the nerves and remove stress. God Bless you guys.

The surgeon said Patty was in no immediate danger and ordered tests, earliest they could get was next Wed. Follow up later. Her ins is good for 2 mo, after that we don't know what we'll do.

My heart behaved pretty well yesterday and so far today. No doubt I should have gone to ER the other night but I was afraid Patty would miss her appt. I want a cup of coffee pretty bad but Rt now I'm afraid of the caffeine. I'm really tired, can't seem to get enough sleep. Thanks for the prayers, it's pretty evident that they helped tremendously. I can see the heart dr in about 3 weeks, on the 20th. POWDERMAN. Shocked

Prayed for you brother. Just keep the faith, you are doing the absolute correct thing by putting your problems on God, he can handle anything, nothing is impossible with the Lord.

Pattys bowel was pushing through the opening today, just under the skin, making her sick. After laying down after Church it went back in, I'll be so glad when she can get that fixed.
I haven't had any bad chest pains 3 days now, just a few twinges. My BP went up this evening, don't know why. I took an xtra 5 mg of lisinopril, I have to do that occasionally for a few days. If I go through another night like last Thurs I WILL go to the ER, I honestly thought it was all over. Thanks again for the prayers guys, we need them. POWDERMAN.

Prayers for you and your family sent by me and mine. I have to say I overlooked this section of the GBO usually, i'd never have thought by your regular watchdog postings that anything was amiss. Shocked to hear of what you've been fighting and saddened by the stress that must constantly be hammering away. Glad to hear that your wife Patty will be fine but it sounds like you yourself need to take it real easy. I can't imagine(yet), thinking that I was unsure if i'd wake up or not. That really struck me. Will certainly be keeping you and your family on my mind. Jeff

I am having blood work on the 19th, I requested it from my family dr. He asked when I was last chkd out, I said, open heart was 9 1/2 yrs ago, then I guess.

On the 20th I will see a heart dr, believe me, I need to, been having chest pains a lot for the past month. I put the appt off for 3 weeks so Patty cold see a surgeon. I'm looking forward to seeing him, but dreading it too. I don't think I can survive another open heart. I hope he can help, I'm tired of chewing aspirin and taking nitros. Sad

The 21st Patty will have a good sized hernia fixed in her upper abdomen. Dr said it was from a prior surgery that never healed properly and the opening kept getting bigger. She'll be in the hospitol for a day or 2 depending on how bad it is when they scope her. Prayers appreciated. POWDERMAN

STREAK. I'm 65, had 5 bypasses in Aug 2003, been getting more chest pains and more tired for quite awhile. Heart transplants are for the wealthy and nobody lives long if they live after surgery anyway. Thanks for the prayers guys. POWDERMAN.

Got bloodwork yesterday. Saw heart dr today, he gave me a script and said I should have been on it years ago. He asked why I hadn't seen a dr in 9 1/2 years?? I said those of us without money or insurance just do without, he made a funny face. Stress test next Wed, he said 4-6 hours, I said thats more than enough stress. Found out that I have a hernia too along the line I was cut for open heart, it's about 4-5 in long.

Patty will be operated on in the morning to fix a large hernia. If it goes the easy way I'll bring her home FRI, if the hard way it will be several days there. I won't leave her by herself, I'll be there til WE come home. Prayers appreciated. Charlie.

My heart dr wanted MORE bloodwork done because he said my thyroid wasn't chkd and he wanted it done 5 days before the stress test + fasting for 12 hrs before HIS bloodwork. My drs bloodwork did everything but thyroid I guess. With Patty needing a lot of help rt now I called and cancelled the stress test today, we are both exhausted. He suspects a blockage, well DUUUHHHH. The only way to find out is to run that thing up the groin area. I may be wrong but I feel he's just padding the bill. 4-6 hrs stress test, not counting 2 1/2 hours on the road seems more than a bit ridiculous.
Brought Patty home today. They made 7 small incisions in her stomach. I'm getting too old to be sleeping in chairs. She was on morphine but last night switched her to 50 mg tramadol, which did very little, so in addition gave her morphine every 2 hours.

This morning dr said he would release her with a script for 50 mg tramadol every 6 hours, I told him it didn't work unless she got morphine too. He said, that is a low dose but it SHOULD be enough, he said it only comes in 50 and 100. I told him I wanted to 100 mg doseage, he asked why?? I said, this is Firday, the hospitol is 50 miles to get a stronger scrip from you, my family dr won't be available til Mon and I don't want Patty suffering all weekend because the doseage isn't strong enough. I told him I'd give her the 50 but wanted a backup, he nodded his head and said, I agree. She's resting now, I will tonight. Thanks for all of the prayers guys. POWDERMAN. Grin

BOY, are those prayers working. Patty had real bad nights Fri and Sat. Both nights I got up with her to go to the bathroom, which is maybe 45 ft from the bed. She used the walker and it took 30 min to get there and back Fri, Sat 25 min, after sitting dwn and resting kitchen and living room. I can't hold her and walk without hurting her, so it had to be the walker.

I've been giving her the lower dose tramadol every 6 hours, it made her sleep a lot. She was a lot more active yesterday evening walking around the house without aid. This morning I woke up and she was out of the bed. I thought, she thinks she's pretty slick, I won't bother her. Then I thought, what if she's laying in the floor somewhere?? I got up and she was in the kitchen sewing. About 1 pm she took a couple tylenol, nothing since. I'll make sure she takes a pain pill before bed tonight though.
A lady from Church brought food over Sat that lasted 2 days, a dil sent some over today, her daughter will bring some Wed, all I hav to cook tomorrow is some meat. We've really been blessed. Thanks for all the prayers guys, as you can see, THEY ARE WORKING. POWDERMAN.
