More about crocs and how they changed my life
« on: March 01, 2013, 06:25:59 AM »
I used to wear canvas boat shoes because they were handy for so many things. Now I just keep a pair of crocs in the trunk of my car for when I need to get wet. The rest of the time I wear more comfortable shoes. Yes, the crocs make me look like a cartoon character, but they sure are practical. When I'm done with them, I just put them back in the trunk and they dry quickly and need no maintenance. Lovely stuff.

I use to think they were silly.  I the had a case of Morton's Neuroma and I could not put pressure on the ball of my foot.  The proctologist recommended the Crocs before we tried surgery to remove the nerve.  I can walk again!

My daughter gave me a pair of veggies but I never wore them for a couple of years and thought you would never catch me in those.  When I was packing for a 5 day back pack trip I was digging in the closet for something to wear around camp and I found the veggies.  They were extremely light and I could use them to cross streams which was better than moccasins.   After I tried them, I didn't care if they do look ridiculous.  I'm wearing them for house shoes now.

Be careful, once you wear the bottoms smooth, they are slippery when wet.

Just don't wear them to a gunshow.

Saw a man at the last show, wearing white socks and purple crocs. He looked like a fruit loop.

I actually did wear mine to a gun show.  I couldn't walk in my boots or anything else at the time.  They were forest green outdoor style with no socks.

;D BWAHAHAHA- haha, now that was funny. I use crocs for my backyard chicken tending duties. Yup, I look funny in crocs, boxers and a tee shirt but the chickens never tell.

Was hoping for big toothed stories too, :D, but this works :)

I don't know any podiatrists who think they're good for your feet. Docs and RNs wear them in some areas because they are easy to clean with disinfectants. Not many floor nurses wear them. You want a shoe expert? Talk to a nurse...
If you give up, THEY don't have to win.

My Mom is a RN.  She has never worn Crocs a day in her life.  Some of the OTs and PTs wore Crocs in the rehab. hospitral I was in.  My Sister's Podiatrist was the Doc who recommended them to her for me to wear before I committed to surgery.

i might be tempted to try some
if they weren't 30.00 - 39.00 +
that's a good bit of change toward
some really well built comfortable
shoes or boots.
they look like flip-flops on drugs to me.

Yea, I was a bit dismayed at their price, but they sure did the trick for me.

i'm just not a sandal person.
i do way much better with some
kind of shoe or boot. i still have
some teva sandals from way back
that have good nylon straps and
arch support built into the footbed,
but i just use them for the shower
at campgrounds and for relaxing
at camp after a days hunting, etc.
i've been through a tornado and
one really good tidal surge/flood
in south la. and i wouldn't have
wanted any kind of open footwear
in those deals. my place in the sticks
has more than a few bullnettles too,
and they'll go through carhartt britches
before you know what happened.

if you have to wear those shoes because
of your feet giving you fits, i sure don't
blame you any. if i had to make my feet
right somehow, i'd wear walmart sacks
and cardboard like robert duvall if need be.

quite a number of surgeons and anesthesiologists at the local hospital here wear them in the ER's while performing long surgeries.

I see Cabela's and a few others have Crocs in camo....TM7
Like trying to butch up a bra and garter belt. ;)

My buddy wears them as camp shoes and apologizes every year. His are camo'ed, and yes I give him hell about butching up uh, eh'em, un-masculine footwear. ;)

I were them as house shoes around the house and pool. If you go the the Crocks site you can get big discounts on ugly colors.
