Packer's freaked out
« on: March 02, 2013, 01:24:23 PM »
Months ago when I was setting up my move I disclosed that I was moving an old cannon.  I had it added to the paperwork IOT ensure there were no surprises.

When the shipping company called IRT my move I reiterated there's a 500 lb cannon.
The guy asked some other questions and all was good.

Thursday the movers arrive I walk them to the cannon and the lead packer was on the phone for more than an hour before they would put it in the truck.  The big guy just wanted to get it in the truck.  The other guy was on the phone numerous times and wanted me to fill out firearm shipment forms with sn and police permit info...... took a little more time to get it sorted out but my trunioned carronade is finally on its way to the swamp

It's amazing how non gun people react to little things like cannon.......
once upon a time most people whouldn't have given it a second glance....
Good luck with your move...
Mr president I do not cling to either my gun or my Bible.... my gun is holstered on my side so I may carry my Bible and quote from it!

That's my point, it seems like nobody follows through anymore.

When you said moving a cannon, they didn't think you meant a cannon !!  ;)

I could understand the confusion if I told them in advance I was moving a trunioned carronade.  But I even gave them dimensions and approximate weight.
We finally made it back to the swamp and my shipment should arrive in the swamp in a few weeks..

my gosh
if god forbid you have to
do this again, get some big fruit jars
and red food color and some of those
fake rubber hands and make up a wooden
crate of hands preserved in red colored water.
maybe that'll take their minds off the hardware.
