to saying those chrome-plated pot metal

the agent, as an agent of the a.t.f., the government
agency supposedly in charge of going after firearms
law violators, should have an extensive working knowledge
of every type of thing that can go boom or bang
if his word or his credibility as a law enforcement officer
is to be taken seriously. if he was hired because
of a degree he holds, or because of hiring quotas,
that's not a good thing.
very much like putting a school on lockdown
because of a gun-shaped pastry or a small child
pointing and saying bang.

There were some U-tube video of  guys claiming they did it and demonstrated how.  It was a little convincing but the lower (what you convert) starts as an air soft. As he tells you how to convert it the lower goes off camera several times. He switches it for a real AR lower and put AR insides in it and  then adds a real upper.  Some slight of hand you could say. I guess the ATF was not smart enough to catch the switch.

It's likely that ATF agent had never touched a real gun until he got the job. It may very well be possible to turn such a "toy" into a SINGLE FIRE gun but then one can also turn a couple pieces of steel pipe into a gun.................................

well. . .yes anyone can make a zip gun, but
nobody is going to use airsoft guns as the
basis for select fire real ammo shooting guns.
it's too easy for criminals to steal a truck, run through
the wall of a shop, gather what they want,
or simply steal what they want from a parked
police unit as is what happens here quite frequently,
or when they're picking up their meth allotment,
turn and say " hey throw in a couple of those
stolen military m-16's too"


to say that airsoft guns were destined for
some covert sinister conversion shop somewhere
is lacking in firearms knowledge.
