Target Renewal
« on: March 03, 2013, 02:46:39 PM »
This target was 10 years old and falling all to pieces.  With a replacement cover from Bass Pro and a few minutes work, it's like new again.

I love the bag targets Swampy. My only complaint was the arrows would move around and I could clip another easier. Ease of retrieval trumped my need to stack several into one spot.

You liking the graphites?

I really need to start working with my bows. I'm afraid my shoulders are trashed too much for the 64# Chastain, its a shame but there it is. I have a nice gentle old Bear Kodiak Hunter that may once again be on first team.

you shoot more at a time than i do.
if i shot that many, i'd have at least
one broken or cracked shaft.

every time i drag out a bow and a few
arrows, mr. murphy notices and runs over
and stands behind me. now, i just shoot
two or three at a time to keep from
busting any up. i really dig a bag target.
i've learned better now to keep 'em out
of the weather and they'll last longer
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

You can't break these carbon arrows.  I've shot them into trees, 4X4 post, and concrete.  They don't break.  #45 is the most I can shoot.  Even then my shoulder sounds bad.

Probably not in Florida but if you hit a rock they will shatter especially on a glancing blow. I shattered a few when I was living in New Mexico and shooting & hunting only with my bows.  :o

I deflected one of a 4X4 the other day at a 45 degree angle.  It tore a big chunk out of the 4X4 but the arrow was unharmed.

If you really want to make them tough, put a 3/4" long footing around the shaft behind the insert. 2016 aluminums fit perfectly over my Gold Tip trads.  Secure with hot glue.  I used to have a few split at the insert when I hit something hard, but with the footing I have hit cinderblock and they just bounce back
