Happy to be be back
« on: March 03, 2013, 05:18:21 PM »
Hello Guys.  Really missed a lot of things, one of them are this forum.  Really happy to see “Quick” is still the moderator, world’s best moderator.  I was/have been sick for a long time, but I have been told that I am a survivor, and that is exactly the way it feels.  I have been moved to my retirement house in Alabama finally, just a few miles from Graybeard, hope you are in good health Bill.

Quick, I looked for the spreadsheet for the Handi/NEF counts, but have been unable to find.  This is a new PC, but my son told me that he moved all data from old PC before the move, but I cannot find anything.  Not sure if it is me or it’s gone.  Hate to have to start over.

My old “Gun Room” is now in boxes filling up the new “Gun Room” downstairs.  Guns, reloading equipment, books etc. are all in boxes that I did not pack.  Will be spending weeks opening and rebuilding the new room, on the plus side it will be like Christmas every box opened.  Have not been out shooting for about 2 years I think (memory a little foggy last couple years).  Sons said that there are over 150-200 guns packed away (only about 40 Handis), they want me to inventory them as I unpack with instructions on what to do with them if something happens to me.  They never want to have to pack them up again.  Good idea for all of us to do!

Anyway sorry about the boring stuff, just wanted to say I am VERY happy to be alive and back online reading your posts about one of my favorite subjects in life.  I am getting stronger everyday now.  Need to find me a place to shoot now.  Anyone know a good shooting range near Anniston, Alabama.  Live on Neely Henry Lake if anyone needs a place to fish.

Glad to see your post, good to hear you are back. Hope you find that data base.

Glad you are back! Dont fret the database, it will turn up or not, but the thread goes on.
A tip on the gun-room: make sure the walls, outlets and benches/cabinets are all finished and in place BEFORE you start moving stuff to the walls (please do not ask how I know.....) ;) .

Thanks Ken, will love opening boxes.

Thanks Pete, will be around a long time now, God willing.

Thanks Oldshooter.  Still no old spreadsheet.

Thanks George, life is Good...

Thanks gcrank1.  Good Tip.  This time the room is finished, last room was an unfinished basement.  Thinking I should have more light and outlets put in before I start.  Also trying to figure out what kind rifle/handgun racks I should have installed first too.  What else?

Thanks Tim.  Maybe I can start some other kind of Handi info list.  And Tim everyone knows YOU make this forum, probably isn't another forum of any kind as good as this one, and for so many years.

Thanks Bill.

Went to a local gun show, and bought a beautiful Ruger No 3 in 375 Winchester, only unpacked rifle.  Have not found any place that has ammo.  What happened to all the ammo?

Tim has his muzzle down because he doesn't want oil leaching back to the lockup shelf and putting oil on it.  My Handis read this and ask "What's Oil".  I lie to them and tell them it's something put in sardines. ::)

Thats a good one Pete ! If they don't know any better they won't think nothing of it! Just don't buy any of Tim's stuff and put it in there with em.

Yes Grampa, welcome back!  As a fellow survivor, I know it puts your whole life on hold until it is over.  Remember to put up twice as many shelves as you think you need for brass, bullets and powder.  Oil on a Handi?  Only got a little Wilson's 'Ultimalube' on the sear on mine.  44 Man

You mentioned maybe more light,  I want to know who is making this world so much dimmer as I get older.  Used to get by with one small bulb and now I need big ones all over the ceiling to just almost see what I want to :o .

Thanks gcrank1.  Not sure I like muzzle down storage.  Good point about wall strength.

Thanks Tim.  Gonna do my best.

Petemi.  Sardine Oil?  Might attract my dogs too much.

Thanks bikerbeans.  oldsoldja has them all!  wonder how many here do have them all.

Thanks 44 Man.  Beginning to think my room may be too small.  Always keep the thinest of thin oil my my Handi's.

Thanks -Dinny. Finally feel like kicking the grim reaper.

Thanks Gary.  I thought it a good sign too.

Ken.  Light will be easier here, walls are off-white to start with.  Harder to see the sights, maybe my head is getting dimmer!

Thanks Stimpy.  Missed your reloading info too.

George.  A fine line between reason and fun, best part about this place.

Had another doc check today, Everything is still "A OK" very time consuming.

Thanks DP.  Plan on sticking around a long time, too many guns to shoot.  Do you know where can I find ammo for the 375 Winchester?

Thanks Tim.  Will not be reloading again until I find my boxes that have the reload tools.  May be a few months, will have to build a new table to hold the chuck.  Table was build into the wall at old home.  Just wanted to buy a few boxes of 375 Winchester to have on hand.  Funny I don't think I ever had anything that shoots 375 Winchester before.  Anyway appreciate your offer, but I will just buy loads now.

Thanks Mike.  Hope the companies catch up making more ammo available.  Good business to be in on now.
