Below freezing in the Deep South.

And I left Alaska for this. Was feeding our catfish in one of our ponds yesterday and I don't think I was ever as cold in Alaska.  then I get up this morning and the thermometer outside said 30*, it was frosty all over, had to keep the heat on all night, and to top it all off a sink hole ate a guy & all his bedroom furniture a few days ago a few miles from here.

Think ill go back to Alaska, at least the bears hibernate.

Well isn't life grand when you don't have nothing to complain about? Have a nice day, I gotta go chip the ice off my pool.

Yeah I know, I was born & raised here. But the jury's still out about the summers.

I guess it's all relative - when I got up this morning it was -4 and yesterday was -5.  As with where you're at it's below average for the first part of March.  Be thankful you don't have a foot of snow on the ground.

I swear its always felt colder to me here in arkansas than anywhere else. It's usually 150% humidity at all times. I can take the cold just fine though

The summers i can't stand. Almost had a heat stroke a couple years ago and since then 75 is about it for me. Makes it hard when the day heat index is 100-120 and night doesnt drop below 80

I completely agree, and I'm in Minnesota now. The most bone-chilling cold I've ever experienced was in Arkansas when the air temp was in the low 40s.
 
As for 30F in Florida, well gee, my heart bleeds for you. Wait until sun up and it'll be back in the 60s again.  The Alaskans can wait until mid-July for it to warm up for a month.

This reminded me of when I moved from Duluth MN to Miami FL.
Early April and the local folks were wearing heavy coats, we showed up and were running around in shorts & t-shirts.

Hummm, it's 81 degrees right now in the deep sunny southwest.  Of course this is where that if you don't like the weather just stick around a day or two and it will be different. It's only going to take one day this time. Temps in the 50s tomorrow.

I do not like or tolerate cold. When it is 40 degrees with a 25 mph wind and 80% humidity --it is chilling to the bone.

Well Bill it was all of that this morning so I put a long sleeve shirt over my Tshirt this morning. And wouldn't ya know the sun came out and while I was walking around the flea market I wished I only had worn the Tshirt. It hit 80 this afternoon.

Some days it's just hard to please a grumpy old man.

PastorP - what part of Central Flawda dijoo move to?  I was over on Tampa Bay this weekend playing a morning gig and it was 43 degrees with a 20 knot wind off the water........cold to say the least....guitar wouldn't stay in tune

its ironic - my wife has lived her whole life in florida and now she has been making suggestions about moving to AK.    she has been on 6 trips between June and September and has been blessed by perfect weather conditions.    I told her I wouldn't consider it until she has stayed through Jan-Feb and still felt the same.

If my wife even hinted at being willing to live in alaska i'd be there before she had a chance to change her mind. I've managed to get about as far as montana with her, which would still be a vast improvement to me

I failed to mention earlier, my wife, being from Flawda,  hates the cold and loves sunshine.......she just has no idea from her half dozen summer trips to AK how cold it can be.....or how short the days can be thru winter.

Probe a little more. Maybe she's done some homework on the pacific coast near Juneau. If I had to live in Alaska, that's where I'd be looking.

I know - I have looked at the averages,   Juneau gets about 25 -30 % of days with sunshine throughout the year.    Cold extremes are not as great as the interior but she is grumpy without her sunshine.......     it is an abberation  -  she travels to AK half dozen times and has picture postcard weather each time.....she has no idea how fickle Mother Nature can be and how truly lucky she is to have had the great experiences afforded her.

The Gulf Coast gets my nod---it does get cold down here---even below the freeze line in Orlando---but it is short and temporary while the heat is longer and hotter.
This winter in Houston has not been as cold--in spells--as we have had in the past years but I can't remember a year that it was cold for as long as it has been this year. It began in November and we have not had a sustatined warm up--say for a week or two when it would normally get to the low 80's--until yesterday when it reached 80. Felt colder though because of the 25 mph sustained winds.
I played golf and kept on a long sleeve sweater the whole of the round.
Played pretty good--shot a 44/39 and did not putt particulaly well---I think I left an easy 78 on the course. Hit the ball good.
AHHHHH hell, another day in hell waiting for the Lords return. Good friends that are tolerant of me helps a lot.
