Dressing at a ranch would probalby include a rawhide vest, as well as jeans and pointy toed boots.

i don't think they have to dress.
they just wear what clothing they
do their cattle work in and ride
up to to chuck wagon at the
appointed mealtime or if rotating
out on nightherd duty to get
coffee or to rest.
the owner of the ranch and his
family would likely dress since
they wouldn't be out on the
range.

i'm sure the ranch hands would
dress appropriately if the ranch
was cool. i've read a lot of old
books and writings on the subject,
but i don't think they had any tacos.
mostly beef and beans and biscuits
and coffee.
i don't mind a taco. kinda like 'em ;)

also, you may have been thinking of
the amish in days past. they were
known to use bells on their stock,
but as far as i'm aware, none of
these ranches in this locale used
bells nor served tacos.

or a bag of rotenone.

My opinion is that all ranch hands should have a pistol. I don't know Roddi. I did know a guy named Rodney and he had a pistol but he never worked on a ranch.

Roddi Yates used to catch strays on Rawhide. He later carried a 44 magnum pistol in  the movie Dirty Harry.

Roddi , Rowdy what ever works in the hijack thread. Now Elizabeth Taylor was a hottie in the old days.

I boarded a plane heading to Baltimore,  looked down the aisle and saw my old college roomate, Jackson Treadwell.       I yelled out "Hi Jack!"

I was promptly arrested and taken into custody..... :P

Gotta say this: I was reading in the "religion" posts. Man, what bickering. just happened into this thread and glad I did. It brought my laughter back. those religion posts can get so mean and hateful. finished all seven pages of the hi-jack thread. feel better now and can pray to God with a happier heart.  God Bless to all and theirs.
