Geeze.....I should be able to get it for 2500 :o   Such a deal ::)

Ya know, the prices some idiots are paying on ebay might just dry up our own classifieds.  I already see some of our folks migrating over there, and in reality, I guess we can't blame them.  If you can sell a hundred dollar barrel for two hundrred.....why not.

It's listed on here for the same price (two of them)  I don't even own a Handie and I knew it was way out there from reading what you guys have said they are worth in the past.

That's the two I'm talking about.
For me there's the "ebay mentality" where it's all about money plain and simple and then there's the GBO mentality where we're here for fair dealings and fair prices. I'll stick with GBO for my Handi stuff. ;)  The guys here are top notch and I'm proud to deal with them.

I feel ya spanky. I dont mind when some of the more sought after barrels go for 150-175 but this is crazy. I just bought a brand new 45 cr classic for 337$ out the door. I will keep my business here on GBO- Ive been given too much help from the members here.

Here in is my dilemma.  At some time I may want to put my monoblock .357 mag up for sale.  I think it is worth over $550.00 for several reasons.  Solid one piece lug and chamber, Green Mountain hand lapped barrel and custom stock.  If I do, some might say I am price gouging or taking advantage of the website.  If I put it on Gunbroker or some other site some might argue that I was not giving other members of the forum the benefit of a first chance.  What say you all.  Piney Creek

Welcome to my world...  Granted I try to buy something here first and place a post for awhile in what I want. If I have no success, I have to pursue other avenues. Plus I try to give a shot on anything I have to sell first. Then if no luck, you guessed it, other avenues usually at a greater profit. But it's not what I go for is the profit, rather to help someone else. The only fault I see here is when you stumble on something great you don't get the loving feeling but if someone else has it, it's expected to be worshipped. Lol. Just a perception. Lol. I just love you guys and the site.

For a custom rifle with that much work into it, I'd say it's worth it.  Even better if it could be reamed to .356 Winchester.   Plain everyday H&R barrels are selling for crazy prices on eBay.  I've had thoughts (not to be acted on) to sell my .223 barrel on eBay then send the rifle in to have a .22-250 barrel fitted.

Piney, yours is a totally different situation. You have a 100% custom gun there. Only you know how much time, money and engineering went into that. Its the 175$ versa pak barrels and 525$ carbine classics that irk me.

Piney on this forum, we KNOW how much work is in it as we have watched it from the ground up!

As for the "eBay mentality," I believe there are two sides to that.  You have the buyers who I assume do not know what a good price is (maybe new gun owners?) and panic buy.  (I wonder if they know what they are buying!) And you have the profiteers that buy up everything and help CREATE the shortage then sell 22 lr bullets for $100 a brick.

Took the words right outta my mouth. Your rifle is a work of art Piney... and handmade to boot. I hope you don't sell it but if you do I hope you get a pretty penny for it... it's worth it.
Speaking of your work... do you have anything going on right now?

Thanks Spanky.  I have another monoblock stub I made when I made the first one.  It will either have a 45-70 barrel or 45 Colt barrel on a SB1 frame.  Also this time I plan to put a hand checkered walnut stock on it instead of stained birch.  I just got a 30-30 Handi brand new as a project rifle I'm working on with another guy.  I outlined our proposed project in a previous post.  As things go it will probably take most of the year God willing to get them both finished.  Regards, Piney Creek

His prices are high but he needs only wait a few years and then put them back up for sale. He will find buyers quick. H&R is offering fewer and fewer calibers and models. The 45 colt in any version other than the 410/45 is gone now as is the 35 Remington, 222 Remington, 38-55, 22 Jet, 7X57, 7X64, 7.62X39, 7mm08 (20 inch),  357 Max, 45ML, and 58ML. Can't get a 357 Mag right now. Some of these chamberings may return, most will not.

Consider yourself fortunate if you can get a standard Handi for under $300. I can't except through Bud's or another outlet like that and with the transfer fees, if I can find a dealer to do it, the final cost is around $300. A Classic carbine, if they were even available, would run well over $400, probably close to $450. So while his asking prices are high, they are not crazy high.

My wal Mart had them for about 269 + tax.  I did not notice which calibers they had as I wasn't really interested.

I agree.  I've seen run of the mill 243's and 45-70's for $400 at gun shows.  And he is offering them here.  There aren't many NIB 45LC carbines to be had.

I think he mentioned 5 of them in his safe.  So it would appear they were bought purely on speculation.  I will let someone else make his dreams of profit come true.

I couldn't even get that much for my entire custom .356 Win. All it's missing is a $100 receiver and that would bring it up to $485.  ::)

Perhaps that price reflects it's status of "rare as a hen's tooth". ;)

Well we can chalk another loss up to the seller not reading the classifieds rules. It really burns me up when something is sold somewhere else and there's no mention of it being listed elsewhere. Makes you wonder if what you're after is even available, especially when they don't monitor their ad for a few days. Why even post something if you're not going to monitor it. ???

Now I know why lead based paint has been outlawed. Some kids ate their weight of those flaky chips. ::)

Its been pretty bad lately on all three classified boards I watch(handi, reloading, and optics). Lots of "I will take its" being ignored. Lots sold through pm with an I'll take it never being posted. Lots "listed elsewhere" with no mention of it being listed elsewhere.... Parting things out with no prices ever listed...
