First time shooting new Handy Rifle in 357 mag
« on: March 09, 2013, 10:20:11 PM »
I recently bought a new Handy in 357 mag.  It is the first one I got made in Ilion NY and I have to admit that if is nicely done and the synthetic stock is much better than the other one I have.  I had to shoot it so took a box of reloads loaded with a moderate charge of Hurco and a 125 gr cast lead flat nose bullet.  It was raining out so I shot on the 50 yard line as the 100 yard range was underwater. I had a 4X Nikon scope on the rifle and shot from a rest.  The results were excellent with several 5 shot groups producing just a ragged hole in the paper with all bullets touching.  For a first attempt and a new rifle to boot I thought that was very good.

They shoot.  You'll like it.  Now all you have to do is rent the reamer ;)

With that itty-bitty bullet he's OK with the chamber & brass he has  ;)
Now that bullet isnt 'supposed to' shoot well do far out there, but my friend Mick has a Rossi '92(?) that was pinking off the small spots 125-175yd. at last summer's shoot with open sights and a relatively light and comfy load.
