HEY HEY HEY OTTO would you like for me to take care of ANNABELLE? We have a man from our town going over there to drive 18 wheelers. They told him he would be working 100 hours per week. The pay is great but you will earn it. Please be careful.
Thanks
Gary

I got to agree with GB with it being so unstable over there and with  the extremist over there hating Americans it would be the last place I would want to be. Even a gun to protect you over there does not mean much with our boys getting ambushed and killed every day. I guess no amount of money would get me to go over there.  Out of a lot of career choices this one is marked bad!! Jim

Actually I was in the mid -east in the 70's.  I am not going there blind.  Not everybody hated our guts.  $200 grand tax free is tempting.

Hi Otto

You are NOT nuts, it all depends on what you priorities in life are.

I had the same opportunity as you way back in 1982 when I was offered a job in Tehran, Iran.  Now this was two years after the revolution and while they were at war with Iraq.

I took this opportunity.  It made me a lot of money and set me up for the rest of my life.

It is hard, leaving your family thousands of miles away as I would not take them into a war zone, but you weigh up the pro's and con's of the situation.

I did it.  It was hard.  I could have been killed and very nearly was on several occasions.

You pay your money and you take your choice.  It worked for me and my family.  I must add, you must have a solid relationship and a wonderful woman behind you to go through this.

I did this for six years, I missed a lot of years of my kids growing up.  My wife had to be Mother and Father to them.  I was like Father Christmas to them, turning up now and again and buying presents for them and then disappearing for weeks on end.

Like I said, it is hard, it is heart-breaking, but if you do it for the right reasons then the rewards will last you and your family for the rest of your life.

Good Luck to you, it is your decision.

Someone asked me once that if I knew then, what I know now, would I make the same decision to go out there again.  Both my wife and I answered that we would do it all over again.

It did not make me fabulously rich, but It did let me retire at 55 years of age with a very good Quality Of Life.

The decision is yours, I can only tell you that it worked for me and my little lady.

OTTO

I wish you the best of luck in the world.  May your God go with you.  All I can say is ENDURE.  I know that my feelings for the Country and the People got worse as time went on in Iran.  I just kept thinking of what the benefits in the long term would mean to me and my family.

People used to ask me what was the best thing I looked forward to when getting home.  My answer was "A dry fart".  With you having worked out there already, you will know what I mean.

Keep safe Buddy, look after # 1 ALL the time.

Neil

I'd go in a heart beat!  Just watch your back.  I was there in the mid 80s and during Dessert Storm.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Annabelle is laughing at the thought of you trying to get along with the camels.

BTW, watch your butt......the turks seem to have the monopoly on trucking and they tend to get rid of the competition :(  A good AK47 and several mags should be considered as well as a decent .45........take care of yourself!!!!!!!
